Nearly new car, small engine low costs - which one?!

Depends whether u 'enjoy' driving or not. If ur not bothered fiesta's and corsa's are good cheap to run and repair, but have either just changed shape or are changing.
You might be able to stretch to a year old Polo which are a bit more interesting to drive, have rock solid reliability, good image and lower depreciation.
Also defo consider a Toyota Yaris again reliable and good running costs.

all joking aside go on to parkers site they have a car tax guide which is very good i nearly bought a cheap freelander the other day wifes choice not mine until i checked how much the tax will be from next march £415 a year and its 7 yrs old and only a 1.8 .
All cars registered on or after 1st march 2001 will be changing for next year its a joke though i can go and buy a 4.0 litre bmw registered on the 28th feb 2001 and only pay £200 a year from next march crazy system0 -
Last year I got a Peugeot 107 with a 1.0 engine. Got a good deal via my local dealership after getting advice from hear and prices form drive the deal.
Its a great little car cost me £30 tax and less than £200 insurance per year. Great on juice around town.0 -

Under 6k might be a bit of a push for a Polo but the Yaris is definitely in that range. Motorpoint have them...

and you can use your tesco clubcrd vouchers for four times their value now that Motorpoint are in the 'Deals' scheme0 -
I love my aygo. 35 road tax and really economic on petrol. I bought new for under8k special edition with 5 doors so you ought to be in your budget for a second had one. I know they hold their price well at the moment but I would recommend looking at them.0

Toyota Aygo, only £30 car tax and group 1 insurance. I picked up an ex-demo, one year old, 5 door for 6k.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I echoe theToyota Aygo suggestions. Avoid the French versions, the Aygo will hold its price much much better too.
No boot to speak of tho.Genie

The Aygo is fine if you can live with it's dire boot access, it is effectively a rear opening window, that puts me off of them.
Bad design.:rolleyes:0 -
For a runabout, I love the boot. It takes far more than I would have expected given it's size. I have four jute collapsable bags which I use to pack shopping in and they fit, when full, perfectly and can't fall over

The boot does get used- often close to capacity. Far better than paying fuel to carry around a three quarter empty boot though - which I did before.
I do have a large alternative vehicle for a big shop or holiday luggage but for anyone in my position (far too much local runabout mileage), it's perfect.
Oh, and for the first time in many, many years, someone shouted sexy at me!0 -
That is fine, for your requirements, but not so good for the majority of users, I still think that it is a design fault, it is the only thing that would put me off of buying one.
A very high loading lip, together with a tiny boot and boot opening..not really very good, when you compare with the competition.
But, to each his / her own as they say.0
