Nearly new car, small engine low costs - which one?!

Hi, I have £5000 - £6000 to spend and am looking for a car around a year old or less, 1.0 - 1.2 engine so cheap to tax and insure, other than thst not bothered which car! Any advice anyone?

why dont you look on autotrader site, will tell u all about different fuel consumptions etc for each car.

i would stick with something that is cheap to repair personally.

i would recommend corsa or fiestas, reliable, cheap to run and repair.

I have a Ford KA, cheap to run, tax, insure and fix, and the engine is 1.3 so you get a little more power. But not so good if you need lots of space in the boot, its only small but does for me I'm sure you could get a really good one for that amount of money. On the other hand i know lots of people with corsas, all seem to be reliable, and are cheap to run too.

Bear in mind that the road tax will be based on the CO2 emissions not the engine size. look on www.direct.gov.uk/motoring for details of the cost.

Also remember the prices may increase/decrease drastically next yr after the announcement in this year's budget - also on website.
