Free Cinema Tickets - Discussion thread

All of the screenings release more tickets than actual seats - this is to allow for no shows. It is usually down to the individual cinema as to how they deal with this - some give you tickets to another film but most will just say sorry nothing we can do! Not sure how SFF and cinemas work out the tickets as sometimes you seem to be a large screen and other times you are in the smallest available.
What i can say is do not let this put you off the screenings - it is quite rare for screenings to be completely full - i.e. in the past I have been to screenings where less than 20 people have bothered to turn up!:j Member Number 18 of the "100 free films in London in 2010" club:hello:0 -
Yeah I know what they did with people who couldn't get a seat - they turned them away and said there's nothing they could do - if anyone wanted to complain they should contact the company issuing the tickets!
I was one of the people (amongst at least 20+ others) who got turned away from the Kingston screening of Get Smart last night.
I didn't realise that it was on a come first come served basis! I thought that once you ha\d a ticket you were issued with a seat! MOst dissapointed!
My daughter has emailed seefilmfirst, not sure if they'll do anything but worth a try.
Sorry you missed it too.0 -

I can't remember the last time I saw a black and white film apart from an "oldie" - this gave the film a very realistic feel to it. Wasn't what I expected but quite good on the whole. Finished rather abruptly which was a shame because I felt you still had some story to tell. The characters came across really well and I definitely left the screening liking them.
A 7/10 from my friend and I.
I was at the King's Rd screening too, they couldn't have chosen a smaller screen
I enjoyed it but thought it ended too abruptly, we had a table booked at Big Easy for 8:15 and thought we might be late, we were 35 minutes early :rotfl:
7/10 for me too0 -
Thanks for the warning guys - i'm off to see Get Smart in Cardiff Odeon tonight. I'll make sure that I get there with plenty of time to spare, but I do think that it's wrong that they issue more tickets than seats though!0

I'm inclined to think that some people printed off more than one ticket, there was a post about somebody selling tickets to Hellboy, maybe someone did that with Get Smart0 -

I bet you had the "all you can eat chicken and ribs" with a large pitcher of iced cocktail. Did you get very mucky or play it safe and avoided the ribs completely!!!:rotfl::j Member Number 18 of the "100 free films in London in 2010" club:hello:0 -

We both ordered the chicken and ribs and I usually enjoy them, I wasn't at all impressed last night, the first lot looked partly raw, the waiter tried to tell me they looked like that because they were hickory smoked  I asked for a fresh plate but I was so put off from the first lot that I didn't eat anything else, I'm a fussy cow. We've been eating there for nearly 20 years and that's the only time I haven't enjoyed the food, still saved me some calories I suppose0 -
Morning All:
Did anyone else arrive last night at the Oxford Odeon to be told the Get Smart screening was on the 12th not the 11th?

I can understand that maybe some people printed more tickets than they should have and left others out, that's really bad but that the print out says the 11 August and then is not, plus they do not do anything on top because there is no manager. Do not write to SFF write to the Odeon a long and really harsh letter! Odeon people has alwys been really bad, that's why I do not go to my local Odeon ( Camden) it's really a cesspool! I really hope you don't let it wash over you ! Do something, what do they need a manager for? Can they not think for themselves. Who do Odeon give jobs to... morons! Do they chosen them with that specification? My God !
i think we should all do something, it can always happened to any of us! I feel very strong about this! It's ok we enjoy our films free but we should not allow anyone to abuse us. Odeon people always does this kind of thing, always. I tell you I'm no fan of them! Thanks to those who help us to win !0 -
I went to Get Smart in Southampton last night .... got there at 6.10 and it was already so full that we had the last seats right at the front! I think the staff were aware there was a problem as they were counting us as we went in..I have never experienced that before!! The film was really good and laugh out loud funny - really uncomfortable in the front row though!!I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0
