Oh yes, Hiro was there! And Bill Murray had a very small role as an agent in a tree, LOL.

I was also at Greenwich tonight to see Get Smart. Beate has already described the scene, it was a bit surprising. It was a quite a queue - although not as long as the one we had to endure when we won Timeout tickets for Sweeney Todd at Surrey Quays - we had about 300 people in front of us for that one, but it turned out ok as they put us in the largest screen so there was plenty of room. Unfortunately that kind of foresight wasn't there tonight.

We got there about 6.25 and the queue was already really long, we were almost by the door. Anyway, managed to get in but it looked like they really got it wrong with the ticket allocation as it was way over subscribed (can't win, can they). I felt sorry for the people they turned away. I think they were told to come back for tomorrow's screening instead. I don't know why they didn't put us in one of the screens upstairs? They are much bigger and more comfortable! As I sat down I half expected them to say everyone had to be relocated, because it quickly became apparent that screen 8 was undersized.

Anyway I really enjoyed this film, I had seen a trailer and I didn't think it looked too good. I wasn't expecting much so it exceeded my expectations. Good laughs and good atmosphere in the cinema considering there was not a seat to be had. I'd give the film 8/10

I went to see Get Smart tonight - and for only the second time ever, the screening was completely full. A few got turned away. Luckily I got there quite early for a change.
But, I was wondering if perhaps some people are being a little dishonest. I could only get One ticket - despite trying every hour of every day to get more. I went on my own (sad arn't I) but wonder if perhaps other people would have just printed out their single ticket again, or even printed out their double ticket twice to take other friends and family.
Cinema staff don't really look that closely - probably just check date and film, rather than a different name on each ticket. Perhaps that would explain why so many screenings were more than full

p.s a solid 7.5 out of 10. Light hearted and funny.
  • I don't know but i managed to get 4 tickets for Get Smart quite easily

I agree with opas, there are some lovely screens further up, I remember seeing Narnia in a screen that had 1 1/2 wide seats in the back rows and you could take the arm rests up between 2 seats, basically creating a sofa! I was half wishing, half dreading that they would relocate us all as an almighty stampede would have occured and we might have lost our good seats, also it would have meant a further delay until everyone was settled. I do hope everyone gets in tonight! I too hadn't expected all that much from the film and so was pleasantly surprised at how funny I found it.

Oh I think I saw you! Did you end up in second and third row from the back respectively? There were two single empty seats and I wanted to shout at people, come on, take them, what does it matter that you have to split up, and at the last second a couple split up and took them, the woman sitting in the second last row, at the left of the row.

I really think the cinema could have handled the situation better. The film started late because apparently the film before had overrun, so they had enough time to walk past the queue at 6.30pm counting people, checking against the screen capacity and saying "Houston, we have a problem."

  • Went last night to see Somers Town at Chelsea - I wouldn't normally travel so far for a film but I was up town with a friend so we decided to finish the evening off there.

I can't remember the last time I saw a black and white film apart from an "oldie" - this gave the film a very realistic feel to it. Wasn't what I expected but quite good on the whole. Finished rather abruptly which was a shame because I felt you still had some story to tell. The characters came across really well and I definitely left the screening liking them.

    A 7/10 from my friend and I.

Yeah I know what they did with people who couldn't get a seat - they turned them away and said there's nothing they could do - if anyone wanted to complain they should contact the company issuing the tickets!

I was one of the people (amongst at least 20+ others) who got turned away from the Kingston screening of Get Smart last night.

I didn't realise that it was on a come first come served basis! I thought that once you ha\d a ticket you were issued with a seat! MOst dissapointed!
