I don't drive anymore... but so many people assure me that it's very safe. The roads are wide, and places are well signposted. If you're a confident driver at home, you'll be fine. Just watch the drifting to the left... which is what most UK drivers do here when they first arrive.

we drove last year and it was quite safe and relatively easy. Driving on the other side of the road with the gear stick the wrong side was tricky at first but you soon got used to itThe Cabbage

Hi Ellie,
We are staying in a villa next week near to playa blanca. on the day we leave we have to be out of our villa at 10am so face a long day before our flight. With two young children in the sun all day, this scares us! Please can you suggest any hotels in playa blanca where we can pay to use the facilities for the day or any indoor play areas?
Thank you

can I but in .....we were in the same boat with a late flight and having to be out of the villa early. The villa co. told us that if no one is staying after us we can leave late afternoon/early evening and this is what I did.The Cabbage

Hello there. Good call by Cabbage... do check with your villa company first. They also may do luggage storage, leaving you suitcase-free to go enjoy your last day.
Failing that - most hotels do offer the service... although I don't know how much it costs.

Hello there,
I was teetering on the edge of booking an all inclusive deal to Playa Blanca in Feb 2013 for myself and OH plus two kids under eight, when I start reading about all the fab restaurants and rubbish All Inclusive restaurants!
Am I right to be swayed towards just booking room only or bed and breakfast? Last time I didn't go AI (to mainland Spain) we spent an arm on a leg on meals, drinks and ice creams! How much does it realistically cost to eat out all the time in Playa (which is what we'd be doing if we went room only as I don't do self catering on holiday!)?
Any recommendations for hotels close to the beach/restaurants that have some form of children's entertainment and good pools would also be very welcome!0 -
Hi Milliebear. Prices do vary around the resort... but a starter, main course and a couple of drinks would cost you between €30 and €60 per person for an evening meal. Seafront average is probably about €35. Kids are obviously cheaper for food... but soft drinks can be pricier than beer sometimes.
Go for B&B, and then enjoy the fab restaurants too!
Have a look at Flamingo Holiday Village for close to beach but also great for kids. Friends stayed there and said it was fab for their children.
Enjoy! xxI'm not easily distracted, I just... ... ... oh my god it's a puppy!!0 -
Am here in lovely playa blanca. It is just wonderful! You are lucky people indeed.
Our apartments are really nice at bugansville. The problem is the telly:eek: I have had nothing but sky news since I got here. We have a DVD player but I didn't bring any. Is there anywhere at all I can buy DVDs?
Am here with a couple of 15 year olds so it would be helpful. We are hiring a car tomorrow so can travel further afield if need be.
Look forward to getting help

Hi Irene. I am afraid that there is nowhere nearby to buy DVDs.
You can hire DVDs at a little shop in town. It's up one of the side streets opposite the taxi rank. You can then choose the language I guess. I don't know what ID you'd need for there.
Or... if you give me a bell tomorrow morning, I might have an alternative locally for you, if you're not that choosy about what you watch. I'll drop you a PM with my phone number shortly.

What a saint Elle. We must get u on the payroll at playa blanca. A wee half dozen DVD would be great. We usually back home by 11pm so alternative telly helps. Anything funny?
Our area is very quiet (buganville?) Super hot today so was freaked at being out between 2 and 5. Boys got burnt yesterday.Grocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0
