You can get your Esta as soon as you receive your passport in your married name....................

That advice is wrong.
Quoting from the website you listedThe new passport is ‘postdated’ - you can’t use it before the ceremony.
https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/1095If you have applied for a Post-dated passport that will not be valid until after your marriage, you will not be able to apply for ESTA using that passport number until the day of your marriage0 -
You can get your Esta as soon as you receive your passport in your married name. I'm assuming you'll be doing this earlier than the wedding day ! You can change the name on your passport up to 3 months before the wedding day, just do this, then apply for the Esta when your new passport comes.

the problem is the passport is not valid until the wedding day. therefore you cannot apply for the esta until that day.0 -
Thanks xx
Surely there must be a way around it ?
The easy way around it is to change the holiday booking so that it is in their current names. That way the ESTA can be arranged now and there will not be a last minute rush to get it sorted.
They just use their current passports for the honeymoon and sort out getting it updated when they get back.0 -
Hi,
Thanks for your replies on this, I've not had access to a computer for a while (ours burst!)
Your advice has been really helpful! Its all a bit clearer now. I know it would be easier for me to travel using my current passport but we have booked everything seperately using my married name and need to have my passport in my married name along with marriage certificate to get amazing perks at our destination, (which was one of the reasons for booking there) so I think I'll go ahead and try and apply for my esta on the day of our wedding at some point as I have no criminal records or anything like that, I'll just have to make sure I do it properly!!
Do you think I would get away with applying in the morning before it gets crazy?0
