    how weird...thanks penny and dzug1.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Like Australia?

Luckily ESTAs are good for 2 years, so anyone considering going within the next 2 years can get one now, before the charges start.

and they estimate it will be up to $17 including credit card charges...not £15 plus credit card charges.

I thought it was the other way around.

An ETA you pay for (now and before) - but UK passport holders are no longer eligible for an ETA

They can get an EVisitor, which is free

I seriously hope theres no problem, booked my flights already. Seriously didn't think it would be an issue as I don't have a criminal record because of it and the only way to see it is to get an enhanced disclosure check.

That won't be moral turpitude so there isn't an issue whether or not it's on your record.

That might be part of it..I'm not a UK passport holder, so I would not have realised you folks can now get in for free. :)

Sorry if this has been covered already, but how do I know if I've got the correct type of passport?

It was issued in 2001, and was accepted in the ESTA application.

It expires in August 2011, and we travel in June 2010. I wouldn't mind getting it replaced now, except its my girlfiriends, and we're going to the states on honeymoon so it would have to be changed again as soon as we get back.

If you have a UK passport it's OK - they all meet US regulations.

At one time some passports issued at Embassies overseas did not but I'm fairly sure these are all long expired.

I am planning a holiday to the US later this year so went and applied for the ESTA and it came back approved. But was wondering if anyone has travelled since January 20th and didn't have to fill in the VWF on the flight?
Also, if they are no longer, when you leave the US you used to give back a part of the green visa form at check in to prove you had left the country.

What do they do now, just swipe the passport?

    A newbie to this thread:j

At the moment they are still using the paper forms as well.

I've seen a report suggesting that the system is going fully live on 1 March

How they will deal with exits when the forms disappear I don't know

Exits will probably just appear on your immigration records.
