Update from me too well I ended up having to postpone my trip was supposed to go on saturday but managed to change it to May next year so instead we went to wales for a few days got back this morning and the embassy had emailed us saying to send the passport because he was allowed to go
so it's sort of good news apart from not going on Saturday.
I just thought I would update as most people don't

Hi everyone me again!
We've had to contact the consulate as we had to change the dates they have replied but it's sort of confusing
Your waiver application has been approved, however the
> validity of the waiver has been limited to a period of 6
> months, with one single entry to the United States
> permitted.
>
> You are required to submit your passport to the Embassy as
> soon as possible, but no later than March 8, 2010. As
> you require a waiver of ineligibility, the validity of the
> visa will be limited accordingly.
>
> Please submit your passport to the Embassy via the approved
> courier service, DX Secure
So does that mean if he sends it off now it's valid for 6 months or does it mean it was valid from the date it was approved for 6 months?

Ask the embassy, not random people on a web forum... that's my honest advise!!!

Are people really having this much trouble trying to get a visa? My OH has to have a work visa (issued by the US Embassy) and he got it sorted in 1 day and the actual Visa arrived by courier 3 days later.
When I applied for my ESTA last year it was pretty straightforward....
Are others struggling?0 -

Remember that those who are posting here about issues are (in general) people who are not eligible for ESTA...obviously you and your husband are...I would imagine getting a work visa is (in general) a lot quicker and less painful than getting a visa as the result of not qualifying for the visa waiver programme (due to arrests, etc. with various circumstances). So apples and oranges and all that.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
If you've been arrested or have a criminal record I'd give it at least 6 months before you travel to apply for the visa.
I work on the passport helpline and I know it is a complete nightmare to get through to the US embassy.
In fact, I wouldn't bother. I'd travel somewhere else (if possible.)0 -
Would having had a Fixed Penalty Notice cause any problems in getting an ETSA approved or at US Immigrations? Obviously it's not an arrest or conviction, so you're not lying on the form by putting no and it is only disclosed in this country if someone requests an enhanced disclosure check on you and it's actually relevant to what they need it for (job with kids etc)
