From next year you will have to pay for an ESTA. Another rip-off:mad:

Could I ask where did you obtain this information?

In the travel supplement of the Daily Telegraph on Saturday. It was also mentioned a couple of weeks ago. They are not charging for it yet, but they certainly have plans to do so in the future. They estimate it will be about £15 plus credit card charges.

    Like Australia?

Luckily ESTAs are good for 2 years, so anyone considering going within the next 2 years can get one now, before the charges start.

and they estimate it will be up to $17 including credit card charges...not £15 plus credit card charges.

Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • Just an update we emailed the consular and the visa is valid from the date the passport is sent to them so as we have till the 8th of march then if we sent if off in february it will be valid till august with one trip to the usa.

So we're happy with that. But I can promise we won't be going to the usa ever again not with the messing we've had to do with the embassy it's not worth it.

Would having had a Fixed Penalty Notice cause any problems in getting an ETSA approved or at US Immigrations? Obviously it's not an arrest or conviction, so you're not lying on the form by putting no and it is only disclosed in this country if someone requests an enhanced disclosure check on you and it's actually relevant to what they need it for (job with kids etc)

    Thanks.

A fixed penalty notice for what? It could make all the difference.

And it's by no means obvious that (by US definitions, not UK ones) it's not an arrest or conviction.

I doubt if there'd be any problems though.

But you don't pay for Australia - you used to, but the current system is free.

Public Urination about 16 months ago :(

I seriously hope theres no problem, booked my flights already. Seriously didn't think it would be an issue as I don't have a criminal record because of it and the only way to see it is to get an enhanced disclosure check.

I thought it was the other way around.
