my passport lasts 10 years 1 month, and went through fine... and it was the official site, which doesn't charge anything
paying £49 for something that is free, is mad!!!
http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/id_visa/esta/
click on the small link saying
Apply for Electronic Travel Authorization Now: Required as of Jan. 12
and then you'll get a pop up warning you about being on government computers etc etc, and that is the site you're supposed to use!

Thanks, marky. Going through google, I could only reach the $49 site. I wondered whether the USA gov had out-sourced it, as our gov does. I found my application, but did not want my DD have to pay.
Have saved your link.

Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
nooo.. there are loads of people out there who will create a site that looks similar to the official site, and convince people to part with their cash, and then someone will sit, type it all in, and send the results over via email..
if you can't be bothered finding the real site, or can't, or don't ask, then people will pay!
nice work on asking though, saved yourself some cash!

Hi all,
Just got quick question, i'm travelling to Vegas in May fror a weekend then, going to Orlando in June for couple weeks.
Do i need to fill this form out twice, as it requests flight details and where i will be staing in the US?
Thanks0 -

No just the once.
You can go back in and edit the flight and address data before you make the second trip. Make sure you keep a print out of your approval so that you can trace your record again.0 -
Warning - I made an error on one of my applications for a family member (got approval anyway!!) and I thought I could rectify the error however its not on the list of things I can update and gives you no obvious person or dept to contact to get help. Weird thing is I got the approval based on the wrong passport number so they are not linked yet. Guess I will have to argue at the airport then unless someone can see a contact on their website??
cheers
I made exactly the same stupid mistake, entering the wrong date of birth for my wife (probably happens to the queen all the time). So I completed another application which, like the first, was instantly approved.
As we're not travelling till April, I thought I would write to the US Embassy to confirm that it's OK. You can ring them but it's an 09 number (not accessible through their switchboard found on SayNoto 0870) which costs £1.20 / minute - hardly moneysaving!
The last thing I want after spending thousands on a holiday is to be refused entry. I agree about the jobsworth attitude of US immigration staff having experienced it in the past (and that was before they declared war on half the world).0 -
quick question sorry if I am being dim or have missed something.
I applied last night and got the wait 72 hours message to find out, fair enough.
When I log back in how do I get my waiver, does it just link with my passport or do i need to print it out. I only ask as i don't have a printer at home so would need to take all my details to work.0 -
Silly question - but one that doesn't seem to be covered on the ESTA site
Flying via the US and returning via the US a couple of weeks later
In the "old days" you would hold onto your I-94W as the return date is within 90 days
Under the new regime would you have to update your details on ESTA before the 2nd set of flights?0
