If you ask me, this is the US goverments very clever way of name checking & vetting potential terrorist suspects before then arrive on US soil. These days how may muslims are there with a British passport?..A fair amount...and with the terror attacks in London being executed by our own British born muslims, and sleeper cells of british born muslim terrorists found in the Birmingham area last year, something tells me although the US government can not 'stereotype' and interrogate certain people who arrive on the visa waiver program with a UK passport, this is their politically correct way of doing so before any potential threat may occur. Im not saying this is the only reason but i will bet you my bottom dollar that it has something to do with it.0

i agree with disney_cjd.. i did mine today for my trip in March... it is instant, and simple to do.... i've printed it out, so i have all the info to hand on a piece of paper when i need to fill in the green form on the plane... so i don't have to root around for my passport number etc etc..

Have you had any progress on the "pending" yet?
I ask because I still have to do ours, and have been waiting until after deadline day (12th) to see if any more problems were thrown up.0 -
I did not make a note of my reference number and I am due to travel wednesday???
I went to the US in October and filled all the info in then online, I am due to travel again Wednesday and I cant find the application number to amened my travel details!
The post a few up says you don't get emailed the number so how do i find out what it was??0 -
No, you don't get emailed the reference number. I printed all my details out. I suggest you email the help desk. They should be able to sort it out, but I don't think the travel details are mandatory? Maybe some one could confirm or deny this?0

Just for interest, did you manage to get it free, markey? I'd had a 'pending ' outcome as passport lasts over 10 years. When I googled Esta today, the only way was by paying $49. Luckily, I used computer's 'history and found the old site, where I traced my application.
I know MSE Natasha says avoid non-free sites, but I could not get on one.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
