because then it will stop the os from doing it in the future if I get another key from M$...I'll just wait thanks...maybe I wont have to ring them then...if not then I will eventually...:D

You will not get ANOTHER KEY from Microsoft.

When you do product activation by phone on OEM there are a couple of things that you need to be aware of.

    1. It is a totally automated service. You don't actually speak to a real person.

    2. The number they give you is an activation code NOT a product key.

It will not affect the OS in the future and to be honest you have already answered the question as to why this has happened.

You have installed (and thus activated) the OS more than twice so this check kicks in. You now have to pick up the phone, call the free number and bash a few keys.

Now if you then leave things alone for a few months (last time I looked it was 6), and then have to do this again, the online service should be working again as long as you don't try and activate it 3 times in a row in a short period.

my copy is legal...:Dor are you saying that ebuyer sell dodgy copies...

Neither. Flagging it up as being installed three times in a short space of time is an anti-piracy measure.

I don't see why I should...my son's mate had to get a new MB and processor and at first as expected due to component up-grade he got the same message but after 7 days it just did it no problem...so I think I will wait the 7 days as don't want to mess up the activation for later activations...as I am sure that will happen once I ring them...:(

How would you be messing it up for later activations?

Your helping yourself by having Microsoft 'reset' your key phoning up!

so as I have put it on since november 2-3 times this is why it wont do it now...sounds stupid to me but then who said M$ wasn't complicated...:)

I just don't trust M$ that's all...I had all this with XP pain in the bum...if I bought it and haven't put it on any other machine then why shouldn't it just do what it's suppose to do...like on the box...says...it does what it says on the box...but then it doesn't...so annoying...:)
