My contents insurance has been with MoreThan for a number of years. I was paying about £25 p.m. My renewal price has shot up to £157 p.m. ?????
My circumstances are exactly the same, no claims and no increase in crime rate in the area. Has anyone else experienced this hike???0 -

Why don't you try Lloyds - you can get a cashback of £75 (I think) if you go through TopCashBack!0 -

That seems like an amazing hike in monthly payment - have you phoned them to ask why it has gone up so much? A jump like that looks like a computer glitch!

My story goes.
Current insurer (Norwich union) wanted nearly 600 quid for my renewal.
Confused was around 520, directline was 500 (but would not protect my no claims).
via quote quick I found a policy for 440 from axa which was ideal.
Bonus was - the broker phoned today and asked a few more questions, and managed to get the quote down to 390!!!! That's 210 quid off my renewal quote0 -

Speaking of topcashback - are they legit? I claimed my £90 for home insurance with Zurich almost a month ago and still nothing in the post??The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0 -

Yes, there are okay - I got my cheque through for the Lloyds Home insurance commission on Friday - £95, this has gone through my bank.0 -
Hi Milky_Mocha
I noticed your post and am a bit surprised if you haven't had a cheque after requesting nearly a month ago. Perhaps you could PM me with your username on our site, and I can check the situation.
(We have had a couple of people in the past thinking that they had requested payment, when in fact they hadn't. You need to click the 'Pay Me' link AFTER confirming that your address is correct - this stage can quite easily be overlooked).
Thanks

Hi,
I've just read and then followed the advice from Martin on how to cut the costs of Home Insurance. In my case, I was looking to get the best deal for buildings insurance, having been with the same insurer for some years. 20 minutes after reading the article, I had my new policy of insurance and had saved £180 to boot.
Brilliant Martin!!0 -
Just saved £155 on Home Insurance with Halifax online over my renewal quote from Norwich Union Direct - see other thread on this forum about the glitch on their webpage that can save you ££££ (knocked £30 off the first quote).
regards

Our Buildings & Contents Insurance policy is up for renewal. We are currently with Admiral and have been for a number of years. Have been typically re-insuring cos its easier than shopping around and have probably thrown away oodles of cash that we could have saved. We are also guilty of monthly payments too, but seeing Martin's note, we will stop that. :money:
Admiral (legal & general) want :
£302.64 on £36k - contents with accidental cover/Nil Excess
£111k building with accidenctal cover/Nil Excess
£4k away from home
We have 6 years no claim discount.
Barclays want: £221.00 with the same details as above but £5k away from home and can pay monthly with no extra penalties or interest.
How vital is legal assistance? It takes up the cost to £238....
I am very keen to move from Admiral as we have received very poor service from them regarding car insurance, also they are so expensive and we really need to cut back on excessive costs where possible.
Are Barclays any good?
Any advice is appreciated as am new to this!!! :wall:2009 is the year to get it cleared! Debt Free Date - February 2012
