Wow, Zurich has come up cheapest for me by far.

Zurich came up £70 cheaper than the next nearest for buildings and contents and then found I could get £45 cashback with Greasypalm and Rpoints.

Zurich at the moment comes up again and again as cheaper than other insurances - and their cover is not any worse than others (if anything, their cover terms are better - certainly better than other highstreet insurance names).

You can maximise the deal by going via TopCashBack - they pay you £90, which is what Zurich pay these sites for referring business. Don't settle for half at other sites! (nb. just in case anyone wonders, I have no association with TCB, just get super cashback deals from them on Insurance. I also use Rpoints and Quidco - whoever of them offers me the best cashback deal on a particular purchase!)

EDITED: on another board (can't find the post right now, sorry) someone suggested you could sign up SEPARATELY for bulidings and contents insurance, and pocket two lots of cashback. I only saw this after I had signed up for the combined package, I am not sure it will work, but I would try it if I could now. Might be a good idea to use two different cashback sites - i.e. TCB for £90 on buildings insurance, then Rpoints/Greasypalm for another £45 on contents insurance. I'd be greedy and try for 2 x £90 via TCB, though
  • I was with Saga for home and contents and I had been very happy with them However, I got an online quote as a new customer and it was so much cheaper than my renewal quote. I called Saga and tried to haggle their renewal quote down. They would not budge an inch and the telesales girl was so bored and rude that I got a quote from AA and they have got the business and saved 20% into the bargain.
Just wait until my car comes up for renewal. If Saga don't come up trumps they will loose that business as well.

Just took buildings and contents from Zurich .. checked separate quotes but that would have been 120 more expensive so an extra cashback wouldn't have made this cheaper. I took the competetive quote for B&C and fingers crossed will get my £90 back! Thanks for tip.

ps - my quote of £455 was about the cheapest - couple of others came within a couple of pounds but no cashback.

  • We're currently with our building society for buildings and contents and insurance: provided by Churchill. We weren't told about the extra cost of monthly installments! Currently paying 480pa and we have a quote for 220pa from webmoney.co.uk
Has anybody heard of this company before? The saving sounds almost too good to be true but I can't find any negative comments so far, anyone with good/bad experience?
  • I've not used TopCashBack for insurance yet but certainly will do as soon as my renewal is due.
Not sure about webmoney, check that it is regulated by the FSA though.
Also have you tried Zurich as mentioned earlier, it is FSA regulated so should be a trustworthy company, Ive read other postings and quite a lot of people seem to have taken up the TCB £90 cashback offer - worth getting a quote anyway. I presume they offer so much cashback as they hope you will renew year after year so it's worth the initial outlay to them in the hope that you will remain loyal.
Obvious but whichever you go with, make sure the policy covers you for what you need before you buy.

    Hope this helps,

  • I have tried the Zurich and Lloyds - but the link from TopCashBack appears not to work! Anyone know why this is?

    Thanks.

    Hi danjaq2004

(Hopefully I'm allowed to quickly answer this question on this board).

The Lloyds link is now fixed. We made some improvements to the site yesterday and I made a mistake when entering LloydsTSB which prevented you from clicking through to their site. This is now fixed and you can click through again.

I can't see a problem with Zurich though. Is there still a problem with this link for you?

    Thanks
