  • I got into trouble with the PetPorte in both, night and Vet modes..

It seems that the chip sensor or scanner is too much sensitive, and it detect my cat's chip even when it remains inside my home..

And when that happens, it turn out that the "out" lock opens at the same time that the "in" lock, so my cat escapes at night or when the vet mode is on

    I read here the following
The scanner is on the outside, in a little weather-proof "balcony", so it won't be set off by anyone sitting inside. It's quite sensitive, but again you can adjust the range if you need to.

I wonder how can I adjust the range of the scanner... any hints ?

Antonio, yours sounds like it's faulty.

The 'out' lock should never open in response to a chip - authorised or not - the 'out' lock is purely for night/vet mode operation and hence controlled only by light or human intervention.

  • I read this thread with interest because I'm on my second Staywell Magnetic, its fine apart from the fact that when the cats come in slowly (which is 95% of the time) the door doesnt have enough momentum to close properly, when the neighbours cat sees it open it comes in and throws all the munchies over the floor. Either the flavour is not up to scratch, or my bruiser is giving it a kicking.

This happens day and night and has been going on for months, so I was going to buy a Pet Porte to sort this problem out but my wife objected to a cable running through half the kitchen, I can see her point. Apparently using it on battery only power causes a reduction in the detecting capabilities and range. Not so good, especially if bruisers chip has migrated.

Just ordered a Sureflap, its the new 2011 version (draught excluder, claw proof door etc) and it was 65.99 inc delivery. I'm just hoping the cats will not find it to small, i've read its on the small side. They are bringing out a larger model at the end of 2011 but I didnt want to wait that long.
    Diet?
  • Cat has chewed through the power cord. can anyone tell me if the +ve goes to the inside or the outside of the round connector?

I'm not criticizing, but I love my cats and care about their welfare more than anything else. They are my boys, so everything else can go to rack an ruin as long as they are relaxed and happy.
I believe I'm correct in saying that electronic microchip catflaps occur naturally in the wild, so we should provide them in captivity, and in perpetuity. ;);)
NEITHER THE BANKS NOR MICROSOFT ARE ON YOUR SIDE!! ;)
  • £69.99 free delivery is at petplanet.co.uk, I can't find better. Can anyone else?
  • :j:beer:PET PORTE £60.99!!!! FREE DELIVERY. Go to easy animal.co.uk, register and they email you a £5 discount voucher code immediately. Next go to hotukdeals.com/deals/hot-easy-animal, and click first item's 'GO TO DEAL'. It says expired, but it still works at the moment. When you get to the deal, put a Pet porte in your basket for £65.99, then add the £5 voucher code just emailed to you into the voucher box. Click 'apply' by the voucher box.
Overall, the website is a bit oversensitive, so you must persevere, keep trying again, for example, when signing in as the next step (you registered earlier), you may find you have to reregister (I had to), or you my have to turn off pop up blocker (I didn't need to). IT WORKS!!

Just thought I would update. Petplanet were very good and refunded what we paid for the Petporte. We got a Sure Flap, this runs off battery only but still has a very quick response time. It has less tricks (ie it is in and out basically, you can not set times or set up based on the light levels outside - but we never used those) & build quality is better. Much prefer the Sure Flap so far and no intruder cats have managed to bash in the door as the lock is more sturdy and central.
  • I bought a Sureflap by mistake! But Jaunty's message says Sureflap is better. Which does everyone else prefer?
