I find this curious, when I was a school we never got nits, we even had the nit nurse round every now and again but I don't think that happens now. My brothers kid was always getting them so now he has his head shaved. What has changed?

I don’t know how old you are but up until a few years ago sheets, towels and underwear were made of cotton than could stand a hot wash and if they were white people used to bleach them. Now most of us have non iron bed linen that should only have a warm wash. Also at one time people would starch everything and iron it with a very hot iron – now they use fabric softener. I am only guessing now but I doubt many lice or eggs would be able to survive near boiling water, bleach or a hot iron. In some cases all three but bleach first.

lice cannot survive off a head THATS FACT, do not concern yourself with bedding ,towels ect , if you dont belive me phone a pharmacy and they will confirm. my youngest daughter has them for tea far too often and its a pain to control. but they are not dirty things and they will not take over your house lol. they cannot survive without a scalp xx
You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on

well I'm 40. My wife is 31 and I asked her the same question and she can't remember anyone having them either.
Nothing to see here, move along.

I never had them at school, but I've caught them twice from my kids. It was a complete pain as I had really long hair at the time.

We haven't had lice for a couple of years now. :D The [STRIKE]Smalls[/STRIKE] not so Smalls are now 12 and 10 so there isn't the rough and tumble / close contact at school that there used to be. DD2(10) used to come home quite regularly with nits until I realised that her hairstyle wasn't helping. She had her long hair in 'bunches' at the side of her head which, if she swung round whilst too close to her neighbours, would do a sweep of the other kid's heads. It was plaits after that. :D

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

I haven't tried this myself as luckily (and I am really touching wood here) we've only had them here once and I caught them very early so got rid of them with combing quickly . Quassia bark boiled up in water and left over night then the water sprayed on hair is supposed to be an effective deterrant. If you google I think Baldwins sell them and they don't cost much for a packet.
