Also different areas have different MAS formularies, what is available in one area isn't necessarily available on other areas, it depends on the health board.0

Do people realise how much an appointment to the doctor cost the NHS? What a waste a NHS resources to pay for a consultation for the only purpose of getting a prescription because people are not prepared to spend £10 on a treatment for their child. I think GPs who accept to sign a prescription for it should be ashamed of themselves.0

same arguement i had when the receptionist wanted me to bok an appointment to get my matb1 form signed when the doctor had seen me 3 weeks previous to confirm it all. i just needed her signature not an appointment, she has all my notes and tests.now proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0

One child I currently work with for an hour a week has a very bad case of them, and has done for a while. I counted 35 on her head last week and have been itching since then.
Don't forget to treat the bedding as well if you need to get rid.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I always used the conditioner and comb method on my kids. It was the only thing that finally kept them nit and lice free. The stuff from the chemist just didn't seem to kill everything off for my kids.
I had a plastic cape that I put over their shoulders smothered their hair in conditioner and went through it section by section combing over and over again. I repeated this every three days for 15 days till I was sure they were gone. Then I would only do it once a week thereafter unless I found any evidence of anything then would do the 15 day thing again.
Time consuming but well worth it as my kids didn't have chemicals and pesticides on them and it actually worked.
And don't forget that you need to check everyone in the house adults and all!0 -

I think GPs who prescribe anything that isn't a POM and costs less than the prescription charge should be ashamed of themselves, 32 paracetamol on prescription is ridiculous.
Don't see why it would be a GP who diagnoses headlice anyway, it's the practice nurse in these parts and she also offers advice on combing, checking siblings and how to approach the school0 -
Some Health Visitors and School Nurses can prescribe, so it's worth trying them too.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

And whilst someone use an appointment time for the sole purpose of getting free treatment, someone who really need to see a health visitor has to wait....
GlasweJen, someone would have to have an exemption to benefit from a prescription of paracetamol, there are only about 25p from tesco/sainsbury. Any GP prescribing £7 whatever a prescription now is worth would be in serious trouble!0 -
But if you live in Wales or NI and soon to be Scotland, everyone gets free prescriptions.
Trouble is you then get then get the world and his wife wanting to see the doctor for paracetemol, teething gel etc as its free rather than going to a chemist and buying it.
Me thinks its the law of unintented consequences rearing its head again.2014 Target;

Do you know how many times it can take to get rid of an infestation when one selfish parent doesn't bother to treat their child?
After spending £50 last summer treating one child alone too damn right I got a prescripton from the doctor.
Perhaps if the pharmaceutical companies didn't use parents as a nice little earner it wouldn't be necessary.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
