I have found a metal nit comb and conditioner to be the best way to get rid of them too.
  • Lavender essential oil on the partings seems to make them let go for combing. And it is vaguely relaxing, smells better than tea tree, soothes the itching and is safe for applying neat.

I have a nitty gritty comb there excellent for getting the eggs out as well ,She has long curly hair its such a tedious job needless to say she won't be staying there again in a hurry, we are really close have already spoken to my friend who is devastated and has promised to sort her daughters hair and pay for any treatments but like i said would rather use natural stuff due to sensitive skin. Will go through it every day with conditioner and nitty gritty comb god i hate these little critters make me itch and scratch just thinking about it

The comb and conitioner method is the most effective if done regularly and properly (and it sounds like you do). Hedrin is good, though - it's not a chemical one; it "suffocates" the eggs, stopping them hatching.

Another one for the nitty gritty comb here :D

I don't like the use of chemicals, I comb her once a day on an evening after school to make sure there are no bugs before bed hopefully making sure none get chance to lay eggs yuck

Gets the eggs out too :D yey

    Another Nitty Gritty fan here!
Suprisingly, despite the fact it is best for getting out all the nits, lice and eggs, It actually combs through the hair easily unlike other combs which seem to pull and snag the hair. Less tears makes it a much easier job :)

the nitty gritty com is brill, my 2 dd's have very sensitive scalp and dd1 has eczema on her neck so i have to be very careful with what i use. The last time she had them really bad i used lyclear as its oily rather than chemically and it has no smell. its suffocates the nits and kills all the eggs and my dd had no bad reaction to it what so ever, I do prefer the conditioner only method but the oily stuff is good if there quite bad and you want to make sure you get rid of everything.
