    Hi El

Yeah, it's not too bad really - we've agreed Stu will still look after the shopping and petrol budget, but we will use a different card that we can monitor more easily online. We were only using the Asda card for the petrol discount, but it's not worth it if we keep overspending on it. And their website is a pain in the bum. :p

Stu's managed to get 1.5 hours overtime in today and will most likely get another 2 hours tomorrow, so if he can keep doing that every week, it will help a lot.

ps Think Natasha is feeling better - she ate some chicken and veg mush at her dinner time, and then sat at the table with us later and ate some quorn creole and rice too. And then an ice pop. And some ice cream. And some tortilla chips. And then 5 fl oz of milk! :rotfl:

I can relate to that snaggs, got my OH an Asda card, for the petrol, and he runs it up all the time, just took it back off him as the money simply wasn't in the budget for it.
Glad to hear the children and yourself are feeling better.

Len, sadly no - I suppose dropping money down the back of the sofa must involve actually HAVING some money to drop in the first place! :rotfl:

I need to somehow buy bread, milk, cheese, fruit and veg at the weekend without spending any money......hmmmmmm........might have to raid the £2 coin pig. :o

Oooh, sorry Bob, you sneaked that post in and I didn't spot it! :)

I'm so glad it's not just us then!

Stu tends to think we have a get-out clause because once a quarter I get Asda vouchers from work (I think they're called canteen benefits or something - you get a certain number of points per month, and you can choose from a catalogue of benefits), which cover more or less the month's shopping - but those vouchers are supposed to be an 'extra' for us, to be able to treat ourselves a bit. As it is, we have just been using them as a way to catch up and get back within budget.

As of today though, we will no longer get the quarterly vouchers, because I have opted to use the points to buy nursery hours. They will cover almost our entire childcare bill each month :j which is fantastic, but it does mean that from now on, we really have to get our shopping bills under control.

:o I didn't even know you could keep bread in the fridge! Is this a big secret that the whole world has been keeping from me? :rotfl:

We usually buy a couple of loaves and freeze them, but our freezer isn't that big (despite the mammoth list of 'stuff' that was in it that I posted a few weeks ago), so we don't tend to bulk buy much. One day I would love to have a house with either a kitchen big enough for a HUUGE fridge and freezer, or maybe just a garage so we can have an extra one in there!

Oh, and I may as well confess that I had a minor slip up with the credit card and accidentally bought a new kitchen
I was going to post "it's a good job the post didn't end here" .... and then saw how MUCH the bin was!!!

    Kitchen bins are £3-5. It's a bin!

    :)

    Good luck
