Placed an order last week with a guaranteed delivery of last Saturday with Amazon for a 25kg sack of bread flour.
I received my despatch email from Amazon with tracking code and waited for my delivery.

    Nobody showed!

I contacted Amazon, who apologised and contacted HDNL about my order. Amazon came back to me stating they didn't know where my item was as the tracking number supplied was nothing to do with my order, so requested I stay in till 6pm in case I still get my delivery.

    Nobody showed!

When I was talking to Amazon on the phone I said "I bet delivery will be on Wednesday now, when I'm back at work" so I put a sign on my door this morning addressed to HDNL stating that I'm refusing delivery, and to return to sender.

Just got home and found a 25kg sack of flour by my front door, which has been sat in the rain all day and has made a right mess of my driveway:mad:

This just sums up the useless HDNL, as they don't deliver when they should and leave things unsigned for, when requested not to!

This just tops off my weekend after staying up till 2am making bread rolls for a Jubilee party, because i couldn't start as I had no flour and was waiting for HDNL to arrive, who eventually did just 4 days late:mad:

Amazon have offered me a fresh delivery, I declined as it would be these muppets bringing it to me! So I took a refund instead.

Ive had no real issues with home delivery network or yodel.... when we order through my wifes account at work everything big gets delivered with Yodel or HDNL and everything has been delivered next day without fail.

I ordered some roof bars which were sent on the 30/5 for delivery on the 31/5 (the company i purchased from didnt advise when they were sending them until the day they were due to be delivered so nobody was in to sign for them), went to the myhdnl.co.uk site on the 31/5 to reschedule the delivery (very dubious about it happening), checked the myhdnl site this morning, parcel was loaded onto a van at 10.03am and it was delivered at 10.59am...

totally pleased with the service, and before anybody says i dont work for them.

    Well I am not impressed.

4 items sent from the same place all on the same day.

I have received delivery of one, another has gone to the wrong depot, the other two still sitting in the local depot for the last two days.

One is now on the drivers van for delivery........

No wonder companies are going out of business if they are so badly organised as this.

Thats going to be 4 deliveries one day after the other, what a waste of man power and petrol!!!! to say nothing of my time!!

im guessing it must be something to do with the depots..... ive had 2nd delivery in 2 days (one roofbars in previous post, other some laptop memory sent out 6/6/12) and the laptop memory arrived about 4 hours after being loaded on to the van (plus we had plans to go out today - and guessed that we would miss the delivery, but luckily the guy turned up about 20 mins after we got back in), if i had missed the delivery it wouldnt have mattered as i wasnt desperately waiting for the memory - it was sent from the company on a 2-3 day service and i got the item next day.

The main test for them is im expecting a laptop from them tomorrow - hopefully the service received from them this week will be as good tomorrow....

A lot of it also depends if you get a proper driver out of the depot or if its a third party doing deliveries in their car. I find when it is a proper driver they are fine, its the third party that is rubbish. They seem to have an I'll deliver it when I can be bothered attitude, in the meantime I'll just lie about putting a card through.

Hermes operate the same way but I find their courier around here to be much more reliable. Always arrives on time and doesn't lie about attempting to deliver like the Yodel/HDNL one does.

You can normally tell if it is a third party delivering as the tracking changes to "Depot Name" Home Delivery rather than "Depot Name" Service Centre.
