lovely, can you send that lucky charm over here - thanks!

hehe, yes, I know that this money is mine anyway so not something for nothing but what with this, the £10 from my credit card, 53.61 from the electricity supplier and a few hundred still to come from Br Gas I feel like I've suddenly come into some money! As I say I know it was mine in the first place but it's still a nice feeling to get money back isn't it. Now, where's my old post office account passbook, I'm sure there's fiver in there;)

  • I'm at home this afternoon with a rotten cold but it has mean that I've been able to do some actual posting on people's threads rather than the quick lurking I normally do:rolleyes:

I dipped my toe into the ebay selling side yesterday (always been a buyer!) I've got a few books I no longer want - normally I would never part with any of my beloved books but I've got a few panic buys (at train stations etc) that are of the chic lit type and whilst ok to read once I'll never read them again so I thought I'd see if they sell and free up some much needed space in my bookcases!

  • PS, normally I make a £300 OP per month and I had planned to make additonal lump sum out of my savings at the end of the year but due to coming into a wee bit of extra money this month I've decided to make this months OP c.£396 which will cover the interest in it's entirety therefore the full normal payment will come off the capital:j

Also, I've just booked a few days away in Prague at the end of this month and I've used reward points for the hotel stay and saved £663 so I'm really pleased about that. The flights are with a low cost airline so all in all it should be a cheap break in a lovely hotel. For some reason the terms of using my reward points meant that only one of the three nights came with breakfast included but who cares if I have to buy breakfast when I'm not paying for the accomodation.:D

  • Hi all

I'm feeling very pleased with myself as just made an OP of £400 which is my biggest to date and also means that for the first time all of the interest is covered - actually, the interest was £396 but I've added the extra £4

Hope you are all doing well with your own OP and MSE'ing:D

  • Oh well done - I've just listed three on Green Metropolis - my first time on that - so we'd better both cross our fingers for the other that they sell!

You're doing so well with your OP's - it's great when you stumble across money that you weren't expecting like that - I had abit of a run of it not long after i started my quest so I know the feeling of quiet satisfaction!

  • I've sold 3 of my books on ebay - made the grand sum of £4 but really any money was a bonus as I really need the space on my book shelves:o

Not bad for my first venture on ebay so quite pleased and think I'll out some more up for sale though I don't intend it to be a regular thing but has made me think about using it more instead of passing everything to charity shops like I usually do - does that make me mean:rolleyes:

I tried the 'one book in = one book goes out' formula. I last blitzed a couple of years ago and passed on some well thumbed ones to charity. The only additions since are work related. I've got an old dinner service to go but don't think it would be viable e-bayed due to post and packing. confused-smiley-013.gif

  • I'm afraid the one in one out thing wouldn't work for me as I re-read my books over and over again and can't bear to part with any of them. I've taken loads of stick from family over the years about it. In fact this is the first time in my life I have parted with any of them:o Another reason it wouldn't work is that i accumulate books at a rate of knots (almost couldn't afford my book habit but now buy lots from ebay) - I'd be too scared to even estimate how much I've spent on books over the years buying them new but I also use the library but....even if I read a good book from the library that often makes me want to buy my own copy (blushing again!)
