    Hi just some feedback

I cooked the beef brisket in my slow cooker with new potatoes / parsnips / carrots / onions with some beef stock and OMG it was absolutely delicious. I would really recommend.

We had it the first day as a kind of stew , the second day as the meat with some newly cooked veg and then I froze the remainder for another day

Fabulous thanks all for the advice x

My mum gave me the leftovers from last dinner.

I was going to heat them up in the oven in an onion gravy, but to be honest, the meat wasn't that nice first time around. Not as nice as the meat she usually gives me from Sunday leftovers.

Is it likely to nicer second time round? She roasted it in the oven for 2 1/2 hours yesterday.

I'd slice it and slap it on some rye bread with mustard and dill pickles. Brisket is what our kosher-law-obeying friends use for salt beef sandwiches.

If no sandwiches heating it up with some tasty gravy should be lovely. All meat dishes are better the second time around imo

I would pop it in the slow cooker with some veg and gravy and cook on slow for 6 hours.... that should do it (or if you have some beer, pop that in the slow cooker instead of gravy)

    Hi Pollyanna:hello:

There is a thread - what to do with brisket. It discusses cooking methods, and what to do with leftovers so you should find plenty of ideas in there. Hope you enjoy it more second time round.:)

I'll merge your thread with that one later, to keep all the ideas together

    thanks

on the rare occasions I have any left over brisket I chck it into my Kenwood and mince it up and then make a lovely cottage pie from the results.Thick gloopy gravy and a little chopped onion and some cooked chopped carrots topped with creamy mash yuimmy

I agree with Jackie....it does make a really nice cottage pie. Or if you can't be bothered with mashed potatoes, just make the mince and use it to top a nice big jacket potato.

    oooooh you could make stovies!!

Chopped up brisket, chopped onion, thinly sliced tatties and beef stock

saute the onions with the brisket, add sliced tatties, some beef stock, and seasoning, stir, and then put the lid on the pan, and cook on a medium heat until the tatties are cooked, they should go a bit like mashed tatties. You can bung in any leftover gravy as well, and traditionally, beef dripping was used to cook the onion, but veg oil works just as well

A thick burnt kind of skin develops on the bottom so stir carefully! I am not a fan of the 'scrapings', but my Dad loves them!

I eat my stovies with oatcakes, beetroot and a glass of milk - yum!!

Why not slice it into really thin strips and use in a stir-fry. You don't need much meat just use loads of veg and some noodles/rice.

Just bought a reduced joint of brisket and now have no idea what to do with it. Now I have google brisket recipe and obviously found loads of recipes but what I want some advice on is how to make it into several meals.

There are 2 of us and we figure it will be a fair few meals (3 evening meals?) but we don't want them to be all the same. So here's the challenge if you are will to accept it:

Should I cook the lot (as a joint in the SC and go from there)

Cut into chunks and go from there

Cut half into chunks and the other half as a joint

    So what would you do?
