Bought 2 joints of brisket reduced and froze it.How do you cook it.
Recently I have been cooking chickens the way Jaimey Oliver says,on top of a bed of vegetables, luvverly.
Is there a similar recipe for brisket?0 -
I cook my brisket in my slow cooker with some beef stock and carrots etc. Was nice and tender and very tasty.
I assume you could do the same thing on low temp in oven for several hours if you don't have one.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Brisket is UNBELIEVABLE done in the slow cooker! Sit on a thin bed of carrots, onion, potato, garlic, add stock just to cover the veg and cook for 6+ hours. WOW!
Tried the same with lamb on Mothers Day and that was fab too!0 -
Brisket was the first thing I ever cooked in a slow cooker - veg, small amount of water and enjoy... mmmmm... if you don't have a slow cooker then a low heat in the oven but cover with foil.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

You can do exactly the same, but I'd add a bit of liquid to the pan, as brisket doesn't make as much of its own juice as chicken
I'll add this to the exisitng thread on cooking brisket to give you more ideas.

Ok-thanks-I have got a large cast iron casserole dish,so if I put the veg in the bottom and say 3 quarters of a pint of stock ,does that sound about right. What temperature (gas) and approximately how long.0

Sounds good  I put mine at gas 2, and the time depends on the size. I'd leave it in for about 3 or 4 hours, as it's dificult to overcook

I have enjoyed reading through the old style moneysavng and have used a lot of the information gained. I went to the supermarket tonight and brought a reduced joint of beef brisket it was very cheap. The only problem is I am unsure on how to cook this is it the same as a 'normal' joint of beef. I would ask my mom but she is away please help me. Thanking you in advance. :j0
