I use brisket to make a dish known as Italian style beef in our household: Basically brisket cut into bite sized pieces and braised with red onion, garlic, olives, passata and oregano.DFW no.554 - Proud to be dealing with my debts :TDAVID TENNANT CAN PROBE ME WITH HIS SONIC SCREWDRIVER ANYTIME...:AFLYING THE FLAG FOR THE CAMBRIDGE BOOTS TARTS :happyhear0

Carroway Seeds with brisket works well... adds a distinctly nutty taste to the meat... Yummy! We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. brisket in my mind is the best tasting part of beef (maybe apart from rib) all it needs is a little care and attention and to be coaxed into a lovely taste.
Brisket is best for slow cooking so look at casseroles like other posters suggested.
I always use brisket in a roast aswell, sear it all over then whack in the oven, if your pot roasting the longer the better, i used to know a lady who cooked her brisket for 9 hours in the bottom of her AGA.
Every month we buy £15 of brisket, cut into large chunks and freeze it, then take out as required for casserole, roast, curry etc it always lasts us a month along with other meatsEven a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.0 -
