Washing Line Or Rotary?

I have a whirly and it works just fine. Did have a good giggle about your pegging 'things'. I am one of those people that just throw it on! Couldn't care less really! lol!! As long as it's hanging and not going to blow off then I'm fine. I am not the sort of person that can take delight in household chores...
I do hang the large items on the outside of the whirly though, just because of the hight.. but that's about it.
I wouldn't want a long line as it would take up all of my garden and the kids wouldnt be able to play freely. Now the washing is all hung in one spot and they know not to touch it.. and the rest of the space is theirs.0 -
whirly gig.
If i buy a house and it has washing lines they would be getting taken down right away. horrid looking things, who wants their whole garden covered in rows of washing? no thanks.0 -
I have both but I use the line the most, I love to see clothes billowing in the wind. if i do alot of washing then i put up the whirly gig too.
i too am 'funny ' about pegging out and I only peg one side of the clothes so the wnd can blow through and dry them quicker0 -
I've had both. I now use a whirlygig becauseI like to look down the garden, and I've got the washing at the side of the house outside the kitchen window.:o
I have to peg socks together too, and I start with small things, and then graduate to big like duvet covers. Everything has to be straight too. When my son pegged the washing out last week,I went out and re-did it:rotfl:
Now I only let him get it in for me!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

I have lines, king size sheets and duvet covers must take a while to dry on a whirly? I love to see mine blowing in the wind.
I have to confess though, I don't put my smalls out, I don't want himnextdoor seeing my knickersI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I've got both! We've got a tiny back garden, so there's a whirly just at my back door. Bought a new one a couple of years ago and splashed out on a Brabantia and (touch wood!) there's no sign of rust on it.
Between the back porch and garage, I've got a retractable line that I use to hang things like the bedding, towels and other bigger bulkier stuff. In the summer, it gets the sun more than the whirly does.
I'm particular about how I hang things out and what pegs I use too and get annoyed with DH if he uses wooden pegs on the undies - should be plastic0 -
Actually I have both - a whirligig and a restractable washing line in another part of the garden which I also use when I have a big wash and lots of sheets and towels. I think the whirligig is neater but on a windy day I think the clothes dry quicker when more exposed to the wind. The line is also better for drying large items like sheets and duvet covers. I have a routine for hanging my laundry on the whirligig. All the quick drying cotton items like shirts hang from the inner lines whereas thicker items which take longer to dry get the outside ones where they're more exposed to the sun. I also have two holes for my whirligig. When the shade hits the first location I pick the whole lot up and sometimes march it to the sunnier part of the garden to dry things more quickly. But what a pain it is to get those spikes firmly anchored upright into the lawn if you hit a big stone. We've had several go in at a slight angle over the years and my whirligig then looks as if it's suffered a permanent hangover.0

I have had wirly line for years, but last summer, my DH put a length of line between 2 trees in our garden, and now I use both. Big things on the line, and little things on the wirly gig.
I say have both.keep smiling,

ive only just moved to a house after living in flats for years and one of the first things i did was put up my washing line. its only a small yard so its zig zagged from the wall to the side of the house and works perfectly. my oh thinks im sad aswell. ive had washing out there everyday since and it smells so lovely and fresh. i love it!What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

LOL reading throuhg this. My neighbour wont mix coloured pegs for the same item, funy watching her look for 2 pegs the same colour. I have both, the WG is in the sun and the line in the shade, so i put my blacks on the line, my socks get thrown on the trampoline, not spending time hanging them up takes ages.
The washing gets put on the line in the order it comes out of the machine. :-)Dec, Nokia E71 | Mar, Senseo CM |0
