The button you press to let the line down is very stiff!!

I have a whirlygig type washing line and silly as it sounds - I have started yearning:o for a washing line - two posts, long line, tall prop - the lot.
Before I put Mr Spirit to the trouble of installing such a contraption - what do "Old Stylers" do?
Thanks

I have a line it dries so much quicker plus there is the added bonus it doesn't go rusty! I used to have a whirlygig but had to keep replacing it because of the rustBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I've got washing lines. I used to have a whirlygig and they do look neater and are good for a small garden but a washing line seems to get clothes drier quicker and are great for drying sheets, quilt covers and other large items.Dum Spiro Spero0

I used to want a whirly one but they're a bit of a faff when it comes to mowing.
I bought this double retractable line jobby... I really like the retractable-ness as it's tidied away, looks neater, the line doesn't need wiping everytime I use it and its safer (no one walking into it and hanging them selves!) Not to mention the double line gives twice the space.
Also do you really nead two posts? Maybe one post and attach the other end to the outside wall of your house?0 -
Washing line here too, we did have a whirligig but it became the leaning tower of washing after a while and then fell over!
The washing on the inside lines of the whirly one didn't dry well, whereas the washing on the straight line all dries evenly. The only drawback is it is a bit short, but we don't have a big garden so that's that really. Still much prefer it to the 'gig though.....
I don't have a prop, and am looking round for a long enough substitute to use instead, then the washing would dry even quicker!0 -
Washing line all the way for me, had a whirly gig and hated it - bedding was a pain to get dry on it. Also I just love to see all my washing blowing in the sunshine (although I am quite particular how it should be pegged!! - sad I know!)"Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to........"
Dieting ........... is no piece of cake!!!!:D

I too am very particular how my washing is pegged on the line. I have a neighbour who just throws the washing over the line. No pegs !!!
It makes me cringe when I see it hanging there all wrinkled and sad.:eek:0 -
Oh that would drive me crazy! I have to have all tops together, trousers together, towels etc etc etc my husband thinks I am mad but it irritates me to see them hung all different ways (by the top or bottom) and all mixed up."Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to........"

I'm with the washing line brigade. Washing dries so much quicker on the line. We only have a small garden, but DH fixed a retractable line to the property and put hooks on the fence and property so that the line could be zig-zagged down the side of the property and so there is no need for a prop.
I do have a rotary line, but never use it now.0
