I think what made me revive it was the lovely weather this week - made me start thinking again about hanging out the laundry.
I've tried soooooo hard this winter to NOT USE my TD. Had to give in a couple of times but mostly managed without it - then again there is only myself and OH mostly. Occasionally have one or other grandchild staying over and often wash their clothes through very quickly before sending them home again - that's when I've had to give in and use the TD. Figure it's worth it, not to send the child home with dirty/damp clothes0 -
I have a rotary and far prefer it i did have a normal size one which got 2 loads of washing on it but the new one i got about 2 years ago i got a good large one and it holds easily 3 loads of washing or 4 smaller loads i would never go back to the retractable lineStill TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

Another fan of the retractable clothes line here!! I have had a rotary type just once and hated it. A proper line gives your clothes a good blow & is less fiddly.
When your clothes are dry you just let the line feed back into its little cover and you have a tidy garden again. I used to love it when my kids were small and we used to lower the line and drape blankets over it and peg them down and make tents. Can't do THAT with a rotary!!;)0 -
defo rotery - gets my voteDogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

I have a proper washing line. A high one slung between the house wall and a tall pole which is way above even a giants head! The washing dries really quickly on it as it is high up so always catches a breeze and loads of sun (if around). Also you can't see the washing once you hoist it up and so it doesn't look ugly.
I used a rotary when staying at my sisters and was not impressed. We went out for the day and when we came home the washing was still wet! Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

One of the things I prefer about my rotary line is that you don't have to walk across the grass to hang/remove things from it. If it's been raining hard for a few days, the grass can get really muddy. My rotary is placed just off the corner of the patio and is easily reached from the paving slabs.
But there is something really exhilarating about a line full of towels/sheets/nappies blowing on a proper line with a prop underneath them!
The best of all, if you have the space, is to get one of each!0 -
i do have a retractable line somewhere from my old house and i have to admit though i do have a whirly gig i do like the old line. trouble is in my garden there's very little space for the line to go up and no tall post to fix it onto.0
