An interesting result. We do it by job sampling and the result is an average of the top ten quotes - rather than just the top one; as the varience then is disproportionate.

Yet with a £4 difference, it can swing either way. It's one of the reasons I'm branding this a FUN tool and it (in the bit you can't see yet) does say "always double check with your actual quote).

We've seem some very big differences in other sectors.

    Also to note. You say

This is interesting to read as we don't say its similar we just list all the other jobs in the same sector for you to scroll down adn see what fits...

    Did this not come across?

It came across to me that you would enter your job description, and bam.. it would generate a different one you can use for a lower quote. The sector part didn't come across strong enough really.

When i recently renewed, i was play with quotes, dropping the old 1000 mile here, adding/dropping the excess, with/without legal cover, etc, etc though i found that i could choose 'Professional' as a job title, which lowered my quote.

    But professional is not listed?

Not a bad tool, disappointing that Unemployed is nearly 25% dearer than retired. Unemployed folk make sure you call yourself retired!!!!

Nice tool. One thing that would make it better would be to have a link to a description of the job title, as I've no idea what some of those job titles mean, e.g.curator!

Officially I'm a 'housewife' though we aren't married yet and to change to house person saves over £12 on the calculator. My OH works for himself and I often help him out (not for any extra pay-the business makes what it makes regardless, it just eases his workload.) Anyway if I put in different office roles the largest saving is over £32.00 but then a thing came up on the screen to say is this legit-at which point I came out

  • Thanks for your comments everyone, they are all really useful.

Just to say when the tool is up and running the 'Is this Legit?' link will take you to further information on the legality of changing your job title.

At the moment we know this link takes you to an error page so you'll just have to wait a little while longer to see that bit :)
