I have been spending all day trying to find a budgetting program to do what I want it to do hoping desperately that someone can help, my eyes are stinging badly now!!!

All I want to be able to do is put in my family income, which comes in weekly, 4 weekly, the 15th and the last working day of the month (me, DH, WTC and CB), then what my bills are and the due dates to figure out how much residue income we have left to spend.

Used something that did this years ago, it worked fantastically, I got flippant, stopped using it and found myself in debt. Want to sort out finances badly, have 3 children to set a good example to so any help please please please please can you give me

  • I think this piggy banking thing will be good for me but do I use current accounts to do this or savings accounts and with my current bank or with other banks? what do others do please? I would be grateful for any help and suggestions. :)

I developed one of these in excel about 15 years ago, which is till use and which me son and daughter now use.
it covers 2 pages, months across the top, days down the side. The fist page is the income and expenditure day by day month by month, the 2nd page is the accumulated net bank balance.
Simple to use, but most important it allows you to see future problem areas where overdrawn bank balances might occur, and thus giving you time to put corrective action in place early enough to make it less painfull. In addition it highlights excess balances that are surplus (if you are lucky), and so you can re-direct to higher interest earning savings account. Mine projects about 14 months, and I update each week witht he what I ahve spent, while I reconcile the speadsheet balance to my bank statement. I always know not only where I stand today, but what the next several months position is.

  • Hi- can anyone suggest a free budget program that will let me input income and expenditure both monthly and four weekly?
We get paid four weekly and I set up standing orders four weekly, but most direct debits- especially for utilities- go out monthly. I've not found anything that'll let me use both inputs. Help please?!
  • I've worked out my budget for the month and already have a few bank accounts set up to "piggybank" my money.
    * One account just has my income & all the regular bills going in & out.
    * I then transfer some money to my savings account for irregular items such as Xmas, birthdays, holidays, car servicing, etc.
    * I've worked out that I have £200 left per month for day-to-day spend which is transferred to another account. I've then split this down into my different monthly budget categories such as petrol, food, clothes, dvd's, socialising, etc

My problem is I never seem to know how much I have left each week so when it comes to the end of the month I have usually overspent. I only use my laptop about once a week.
The other problem I have is that these past 2 months have seen so many changes in my life - I've got a new job in a different part of the country, moved house & been on holiday so my finances are a bit of a mess at present!!

What's the best way of monitoring my finances weekly so I know how much money I have left? I usually pay by switch or cash for most things. Please help
  • Can anyone give me the link to the Monthly Food Planner please?
    Thanks
    Clare;)
