They will and do frequently but that's not the issue here as the op is looking for the goods plus refund.Glad wrote:stores won't exchange food items if there is nothing wrong with them
I think the confusion about stores not changing perishable goods arises out ot the fact that in the event that they do they cannot resell these goods they must by law be destroyed as it cannot be ascertained if they have been kept under the desirable conditions to enable them to remain fresh and not become contaminated plus there is also the added risk of malicious contamination.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
which is why they won't exchange them if there is nothing wrong with them,ben500 wrote:They will and do frequently but that's not the issue here as the op is looking for the goods plus refund.

and no mistake has been made on their part,
this store obviously believes they are in the right, so in answer to the poster who suggested the OP just go back and ask for different ones, I said, stores will not do thatI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Are you suggesting that someone accidentally picked up the entire contents of one shelf (about 20kg of frozen prawns!) and placed them on a different shelf, whilst removing the contents of the second shelf and disposing of them elsewhere, then replacing the label from the first shelf on top of that on the second shelf? :rotfl: All this without being noticed by anyone? :rotfl: :rotfl:
To reiterate ben500's point, all products are refundable and replaceable.
No that's not waht I'm saying happened, I'm saying that's the sort of speal the supermarket will come back at you with
But you cannot exchange/get refund on perishable goods if there is no fault with them, else they can be put back out of sale, semi-defroested and refrozen and cause food poisoning to next purchaser. Knowing how the supermarkets value our health, or at least don't want more lawsuits, they won't rsik that0 -

I thought all things you brought if in the same condition you brought, you could return. But after looking at the office of fairtrading i saw this:
No grounds for complaint
You don't have any real grounds for complaint if you:- were told about the fault
- examined the item when you bought it and should have seen the fault
- did the damage yourself
- made a mistake when buying the item
- simply changed your mind
So I guess you arnt within your right to demand a refund.

We were bought some clothes as a present for our new baby from Tescos by people and they were too small. So we took them back. The problem is that Tesco will not give credit notes on clothes unless you have a receipt, you have to exchange for clothes.
Fair enough but the clothes that we were bought must have been from another Tescos and there was nothing in that we wanted in the right size, so you wait till something comes in. WRONG! Tescos before selling the last one of any item reduce it to about £1.50 or less, so if you wait you end up getting only £1.50 for something when the person who bought it for you paid far more which just is not fair.
Tesco also seem to only have some ranges in for a matter of weeks, so the price of the clothes could reduce very quickly.
Add to that the wait at Customer Service and the fact that on average Tesco staff do not seem to be that friendly or helpful.
Was in Tesco late on Friday, popped in on my way home, and the person reducing goods for quick sale was doing so on the fish counter and dishing them out to the other staff. So all the good stuff went. Not very bargain hunter friendly, though they are probably badly paid so you can't blame them.0 -

Ok, you are also misunderstanding this quite badly:- I was not told about the discrepancy nor was I aware of it
- I examined the item when I bought it to ensure it was not open or 'faulty' (how can prawns be faulty?
) - How could I possibly do the 'damage' myself? And what would I get out of it? I only want to make a prawn cocktail!!
- I made no mistake when buying the item; it was priced incorrectly and that is the FACT of the matter
- Yes I changed my mind but only because my original decision was based upon the incorrect shelf label which was displayed at the point of sale. This is not my liability.
So I guess I AM within my right to demand a refund AND keep the product. I'm keeping the product anyway because it's already dispersed into the digestive tracts of 6 different individuals. If they want it back they can, but it will be a couple of days to re-emerge at the other end :rotfl:0 -

I went to CS desk with the empty prawn packet all ready to argue the points that ben500 kindly provided when they said "oh that's fine you can have a refund then".
I'm glad but a little disappointed; I really wanted an arguement
