Really down now. Have been keeping in touch with a few friends from the pub and have been on msn tonight and had a real dressing down for no reason.

Someone who I considered to be a close friend, who helped us move stuff and allsorts.

Has put me on a real downer cos a) I didnt deserve what was said and b) I have obviously lost someone I felt very close to.

I suppose at times like these you really find out who your friends are. Just what I didn't need at the moment. Gonna go and have a good cry now.
Please don't let their behaviour get you down - they're really not worth it.

I try to see a positive in every negative, even though sometimes it's really difficult. Money is one of the few things that can break friendships in minutes. I thought all my friends were my friends - I never had any reason to doubt that, & I thought they were as loyal to me as I was to them. I'd see some more than others, but we'd help each other out wherever it was needed. But since I've been BR, I haven't had the money to throw around that I used to - I still go out with them, but I don't put my hand in my purse to pay someone else's way the way I used to. It's also very important to me to save some money each month, so that I have something to fall back on, as I don't have any credit to use. So I buy my own drinks or just pay for a couple of others but I don't pay for large rounds, I don't say "don't worry about it" when someone offers me my change, & I'm not so quick to lend money as I was. Suddenly, some of them aren't so keen to be around me, which makes me think they wanted me around for my money rather than my personality, my heart or my mind. :(

Well, I've got a newsflash for them - it's their loss! They don't know I've been BR & that's the way it's going to stay, especially now. As my cousin said, it's good to see how quickly they change when you've got no money, because you also get an idea of how quickly they'll change back if you suddenly come into some cash. I've lost nothing by losing them except a bit of faith in human nature, but I trust my judgement more than theirs. I'm a good person, & they've lost far more than they think by ditching me. :)
  • Hi all, down to last 2 boxes of paperwork in awning....yipee!!!

Yes I have found the receipt, and it is in my name only, but it was a private sale through a local free ads rag and just a scribble reallly on a piece of paper that anyone could do so not sure if its really worth anything??????

    Advice please.

Also, same local free ads rag has that many ads it would be really difficult to trace seller, unfortunately we never thoughyt about it at the time as we didnt think OR would be quite so stingy as to try and claim caravan.

As for BB max, I am at present in the sticks and do not have any probs. Also, BB works where we have no mobile phone reception so cant complain there. Only complaint is with "3" customer service which is appalling.

No letter from Or yet so cannot plan next move as regards the caravan.

Had to laugh today though when I for the first time in years read my stars (sheer boredom, nothing to read was awaiting hubby in person plus books to read next week..mum has sent me some up..bless):

"Think of a number. Double it. Add three. Multiply this by seven. Divide by five. Take away the number you first thought of. Add together the remaining digits. Keep adding the digits until you only have one digit left. Write it down on a piece of paper. Fold up the paper seven times. Put it under the sofa cushion. Erm...that's it. Now go away and do something different. Do you ever feel as if you are having your time wasted?"

REALLY made me laugh, I havent read my stars for years, but after everything else and having dealt with 3 customer services to try and sort broadband out it tickled me.

4 phone calls TO 3 and same amount back and we are no further along in changing direct debit, and same amount every day for 5 days. And they wonder why we have told them to cancel the contract?????????????????

    Just seemed very apt.

Sorry, small things amuse me at the moment.

I'll go and hide now until the maniacal giggling subsides.

    hi forest potty,

Glad to hear your having a good gigle even if it is only over your 'stars'.

OH has to wait about his income/expenditure, think they only want to claim his income tax that he pays, so that is something. And how about this were going on a picnic monday to great yarmouth, we used to go to a little cafe on the seafront, but thats out of the question. Briefed the kids, they can have a small amount for the 2p machines but cant stump up a lot more. They are quite excited, 18,17, &12. Very worrying i know, but i think they are just putting on a brave face so that i feel better.

Glad your getting on ok at your caravan, the weather talks of being a little worse for a few days, always rains in skeggy at bank holiday - must be a tradition lol

At least you have OH there now, i really dont know how you cope on your own with little people in a caravan. I really think things will be better soon, but definatly contact the OR and explain YOU own the caravan and you have receipt from freeadd seller to prove it.

As for friends who when push comes to shove arent friends, sod them. I had what i felt was a really close friend, but yesterday began to just wonder. I had hospital (again) and she rang me to find out appoinment time, said 845 and she asked if in Boston and i said sort of. She only wanted to know cause she wanted a lift there as her lesbian lodger (hate her) didnt want to go on the bus to go to the hospital and thought i might want to take her. Ummmmmm NO. I was lucky my appoinment was on time, got my next one 5th june, receptionist did want to it to be in August - i would of bin dead by then by painkiller overdose. Itake 15 a day now.
Im 'priority' now as i keep having to go to A & E, always in my PJ's lol.

Hope you have a great tme with OH and kids and doggys!!! Wishing you all the luck possible - and if i win the lottery i promise to help you!!!

    Best wishes sandra

Well, so much for the homeless support unit. Insisted on hubby going in for an appointment and told him nothing really. Said we wouldnt be considered for a hostel and we would just have to apply to all the housing asociations.

Hubby spitting mad, wasted several hours going down to be told nothing, after being told that the whole purpose of him going down was to get on the housing lists. They didnt even have the forms there for him for their own housing list, he had to go elsewhere and fetch them!

As someone else has said, you should speak to Shelter regarding this. Your husband should have been given an interview to find out if you are homeless (there are five tests to check this; if you are eligible for council housing [you should probably qualify, it's about residence in the UK], if you are homeless or threatened with homelessness, if you are in priority need [if you have children/disabilities], if you became intentionally homeless [lost your home on purpose to try and get a council house] and if you have a local connection [you have lived in the area]). They should then look into it and you should get a letter confirming whether they accept that you are homeless - if they turn you down you then have 21 days to appeal.

They have not followed the correct procedure, and you can fight them on this one. It might be worth sending them a letter stating that you believe you are homeless and want an interview - it won't be as easy for them to fob you off if you've got proof you asked for homelessness assistance. It's quite common for homelessness teams not to follow the correct procedure - it looks bad on councils to have homeless people in the area so if they don't record it correctly it looks like they're performing better.

If you need more help on this, try Shelter.

the LA could claim youve made yourself homeless by leaving the pub, which wont help your case, have you left the area you lived in? crossing a county line can complicate things for you, and give a LA a way out.

  • We did not have any choice BUT to leave the pub. Included in the lease was a clause about bankruptcy which meant forfeiture of the lease and, therefore, the accommodation.

I agree with you FP but please check with CAB or CCCS before speaking to your LA.

but like any repo (even a simple house repo) jump before your pushed and you give the council an opening to sidestep helping you, it could have taken weeks if not months for the pub chain to evict you, your caravan could have been on site and waiting, some clever dicky at the council will ask for the eviction paperwork, the possession and eviction orders, in effect you have made it easy on the pub chain, and the council, and weakened your own case, have you spoken to social services?.

when did you apply for LA/welfare housing?

Hubby had interview with them on thursday. They have said until my 28 days are up here we are not technically homeless. Presumably then we will be a priority as we will be classed as living on the streets. Can't say I am surprised.

Have filled out all the forms and they have 21 days to respond.

By the time we get an offer we will probably have secured PAYE employment in a managed house as I am blitzing through a load of applications next week.

Just a case of wait and see.
