The term 'every little counts' springs to mind.
(Yes and we know which way).
Have you noticed lately when going to Tesco pumps, and you govern the amount of petrol, only to find that extra 1p registers?
I spoke at the till and made an unaficial complaint, and was shown some gobbledygook on policy, that they were told to show if any customer makes complaint.
(Meaning a number of others have also noticed).
It never used to happen that often at other stations but when it did, complaints were made, and then rectified.
So there you have it, they make up the extra 1p as you place down the pump.
