Tesco

  • You may live in a small town but in order for Tesco to set up a store they need a large sphere of influence. It's basic GCSE Geography:

In a large town or city having many Tesco stores within a small area is justified as there is a large population within a short distance. In rural areas such as your "small town" there'll only be one and the sphere of influence will be much greater.

So, although your town is small, your local Tesco will still have thousands of people traveling a good distance to shop there. Otherwise they'd close it down. How do you expect one cashier to remember every face of the population within a 20mile radius?

    Anyone see what i'm saying?

PS. I work in a bookshop and can't remember any of my customers I served today. That is, part time till I finish my MA Geography ;)

    ;)

this tesco is tiny and no one travels 20 miles to it as there are two larger ones 15miles away which are the ones most people use, and as i said all the staff are local people, i would understand if it was a large town but this literally is a tiny town

lol nobody would travel far to tescos when there are 2 big ones an extra 10 miles away lol.

i think ppl are missing the point here, the CASHIER KNEW THE OP WAS OVER 18! lol whats so hard to understand about that? She WOULDNT of got a fine cos the customer WAS and she KNEW she was over 18 so a lot of your posts are totally pointless.

This thread is full of people who think they know it all and are causing arguments on purpose to try and prove they are the big I AM.

I ask you all to remember the forum etuquette - There is no such thing as a silly question. Which I interprut to also be no such thing as a silly thread so stop making out the OP is overacting here.

Another thing to remember behind each screen is a person with feelings so lay off

I know the Tesco OP is referring to and its out in the sticks theres not thousands of people in the surrounding towns to travel here and the nearest cities have several large Tescos so unless they enjoy driving 40+ miles to look at some fields they wont be visiting the Tesco.

Its so small, everyone virtually knows everyones name and when they change their undies

I think your a bit hypothetical with posts #114 & #115. All I was doing was making a suggestion.

I'm sure somebody has most likely mentioned this already- would you risk your job by not following company procedure?

No they didn't. For the umpteeth time the op only assumes this. The op does not know this for fact.

All we've had from the op is "my town is small so she must know" & "she served me before so is bound to remember me so she must know". It doesn't take a genius to know those are both assumptions!

I don't believe the they all know each other argument for a minute (I believe this is another assumption). Just out of interest what is the town, I'd love to look up it's population to see how many thousands of people know all the other thousands, and I bet this town in actual fact does have a population of over 1000.

as i have said tesco have told me the sales assistant was in the wrong and should have served my oh the drink as he produced id, so they would not have been risking there job.
