-Pasta and a tin of tomatoes (with a fried onion if poss)
-Banana, peanut butter on wholemeal pitta (has to be wholemeal)- add apricot jam for a real treat
-Pitta pizza- any pitta bread with a dollop of passatta, some grated cheddar, grilled- amazing, cheap but so delicious
    -Cheese and piccallili toasties
-Fish finger sandwich with salad cream

I used to love laughing cow triangles, salad cream and crisp sandwich on fresh white bread. Not keen on white bread now but must try it with fresh granary somewhen- bet it's still yummy.

This is a fab thread BTW!

  • OK, so I don't get the salad cream 'thing', or the marmite 'thing' for that matter .....

but I DO have quite a thing about fish finger sandwiches with chilli jam

or an apple, salted crisps and milk chocolate all at the same time...

Sounds great, but to change this and give it that extra , grate some chocolate on the top, wonderful! or add some yogurt & jam.

For me, porridge - none of that processed powery stuff either, you want big REAL oats (the smaller surface area of the powdered 'instant' oats means that its GI index is much worse, whereas rolled oats take a while to be digested and are an excellent source of slow-burning energy). You don't even need milk or heat. Just add some water and hey presto! Food for 5p.
