My Dad (bless him!), used to eat orange and sugar sandwiches. My mother used to eat buttered toast with chopped up mars bar:eek: I liked to think I now have more acquired taste, but when I lived on my own, I would eat burnt toast spread with mustard, and also found this really cheap local shop, who did all sorts of weird and wonderful things like chowder noodles. I once bought a large jar of something there(can't remember what), but I was so desperate to try it that when I coundn't open the jar I strooped all the way back to the shop to insist it was imperative that someone open it:o Mission accomplished once they stopped laughing:rotfl: :rotfl:Grocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.

Various butty fillings:
Cheese and marmalade
Peanut Butter and Banana
Banana and cheese spread
Coleslaw and cheese
but fave is fried onions (slightly caramelised) and brown sauce!
At last! someone else who appreciates the glory that is cheese and marmalade!
Also:- basically anything in value white bread or value pitta breads pref with cheap real butter....eg leftover curry, bog, stew, rice, pasta, veg, bread sauce (yes!), potatoes, cheese, jam, sauce....
- almost anything with marmite or anything with marmalade but never the two 'm's together. Sausages with marmalade are divine.
- Anything with mayonnaise (or salad cream)
- Almost anything in white bread & then in the toasty machine YUM
- Homemade dhal is the best, cheapest most versatile thing you can ever make.... boil up red lentils adding boiling water as you go along to get the perfect stiffish consistency. Season with just salt & pepper or stir in curry paste if you want to. Serve with curries or alone, hot with pitta/ poppadums and chutneys, plain yogurt and salad. When cold this will go solid and is YUM in sandwiches - again with chutneys & salad or carrot sticks etc for your packed lunch. Also yummy spread on bread & toasted with cheese.
