Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

I am here MW!
Sun is up, sky is blue, the mountains are greener than I have ever seen them after all the rain, there are loads of flowers, there is snow on the high peaks, the place is gorgeous., it is like something out of Heidi or The Sound of Music...and my house is slowly drying out after having had gallons of water injected into it via the porous walls and next door's leaky roof.
Hope you don't get your snow.
We are having an unexpected SKI trip to Calahonda on the CDS. My husband's cousin's son-in-law has an apartment there and we are having it free for ten days. What will be even nicer is that my husband's cousin has arranged it so that when we deliver our son and his girlfriend back to Malaga airport on the 27th April, we then drive down the coast a bit to Calahonda, have our holiday there with her and her husband and then drive back home on the 10th May, collecting another set of friends from Malaga airport on the way.
So we don't have to drive to and from Malaga from our house twice (three hour drive each way).
REALLY looking forward to it. Hubby has his cossy out already. Apparently the apartment is in a gated community with two pools.

Thanks MW we are out with the 'van on Thursday, though not going as far as the South East, this is where we are staying near, and this we are told is a short walk away Could do with some good weather to appreciate them fully. But if not Red Wine :beer:and cards with friends seems like a good option. Also ski-ing on a new TV for the 'van a 19" for older eyes. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
In addition getting organised for gutting and re-doing the lounge, furniture & carpets OK, but want the walls back plain after fancy coving/dado rail, etc. Plasterer organised, just have to get the lounge ready for him now.
Errata I treat my DH to a dishwasher when we had our DS 25 years ago, and the DW is still his.
7DW - glad your weather has improved, if it turns that bad we may look for a cheapie flight back! Trouble is schedule already full with caravan trips.
Take care all - DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
We are skiing off to Fuerteventura on Wednesday. Still haven't sorted insurance, was going to go with EHIC Plus but then found DH's EHIC card is out of date! Hoping that will arrive on Monday otherwise I'll be phoning insurance companies. I know we ought to have his EHIC anyway.Merrywidow wrote: »Bump...Bump....where is everybody? How was Barcelona Sloan? the first time we planned to hire a car abroad, he couldn't find the paper bit of his licence, which he'd put in a 'safe place' as he didn't want it in his wallet with the card - despite DVLA saying to keep them together! Cue panic application for new licence.
He is expensive to take away ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
We will be SKI-ing to Turkey in April for a fortnight. A quiet resort apparently with plenty of sightseeing in the vacinity. Also on a river where the birdlife in April is plentiful.
We have also been persuaded by "friends" to go camping in France, in June. Take your own tent and rough it sort of camping!! Heyho another experience to notch up on the bedpost of life.Away with the fairies.... Back soon0 -
Glad to see you are all alive and kicking. Have been planning a few skating trips for the next few months. Amsterdam end of April is on the cards. Missing my two little nieces very much so I must start there. As a matter of interest has anyone ever been to Amsterdam on the Dutch Queen's Official birthday on April 30th? It's a public holiday and trust me it's manic. You can set up stalls on the street and sell anything. No licence needed. Even Adultery is allowed without punishment!! It really is a crazy day, but fun. Last year it ended abruptly when someone tried to bump the Queen off whilst she was touring in her bus around one of the towns that day. Man killed himself in the process.
Donny - do you know where the tall ships race starts this year. I know you are going to the finish in Hartlepool, I was wondering if it started in Holland. I was on the beach in Ijmuiden a few years ago when they left. Spectacular.
Look forward to hearing your travelling tales.member # 12 of Skaters Club
