  • Don't worry polly, you will get there eventually. The poor eyesight is a good start. To get the ski-ing down to a fine art, grab the yellow pages and find a lovely woman who will pick up your ironing and bring it back airing cupboard ready. Bliss. If you only use her for the bedding it still saves hours of backbreaking ironing. If you need any other tips to help you on the road to total idleness - just shout!!

Ironing the bedding? No, never have and never will. It will be nice to get everything out on the line for a nice blow. Fitted sheets on a king-sized bed cannot be ironed anyway.

  • I don't iron anything, in fact until last year, in Spain, we didn't even have an iron nor an ironing board. We only bought one because we were home-exchanging for three weeks and we thought the exchangers miight want one (they didn't - the ironing board has not been taken out of the wrapping). I have used the iron once to iron a hem on some curtains.

If a certain birthday is near mine then the pension date for you should be early in January 2013.

I have not ironed anything for ages- strange how once DDs or DH have to either do their own or ask me specially - they decide it is not needed;)

  • Wow - I guess there is hope for me yet! When I have guests to stay I love to give them crisply ironed bedding - just because that is what I like too. Guess I don't get any Brownie points for ironing my T-Towels either? And there was me thinking I was a complete slob - seems I have a way to go yet!!

Yes, right both of you. smiliewave.gif

It has been glorious for the last few days, a possibility of rain on Thursday then 17C and sun for a couple of days here

We are having a face lift to the kitchen here, DH is doing it with the assistance of our next door but one neighbour who is a joiner/builder and hates to sit around, though his wife likes sunbathing too.

I am just keeping out of the way and away from the sawdust/noise, will post some piccies on FB when finished.

As for ironing, I had a cleaner/ironer while working but cannot justify it now not working, though she does pop in at home before I return from a long trip and "do through" + any ironing, the superking quilt covers kill me, so usually there is 3 by the time she gets them. I iron what is necessary only. As for the eyesight, well I just remove my spectacles. biggrin.gif

:rotfl: I have a friend who swore that they dried things better if they'd been ironed. Since I very rarely use one - better to let things drip dry IMO! - I've not done any comparative trials.

It's probably me who's worst. And I'm not going to say how bad it is. I'd blame MSE, and still working, except that it won't be any better once I'm not working.

I love ironing, it's very therapeutic.

ps I don't want any parcels in the post from you non-ironers, it's not that therapeutic.
