Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Watching TV is not the exclusive preserve of skiers and skaters, but a good series is a good series.
Anybody else enjoying the latest Lark Rise to Candleford. We can't miss it.

Now you are really in the club, SDW. I love getting this Monday fix!

Dawn French put me of Lark Rise, Digger. For ages I wondered why I didn't like the book. Eventually, the penny dropped; Flora Thompson talked about the villagers as 'them'. Laurie Lee used 'us'; he showed no superiority.

I should hope so! You didn't get up at 4.30 am JUST to see if it had arrived, did you? :rotfl:

  • :money:Now I really must mention SDW - if you are going to do this pensioner lark properly - you have to develop total oblivion to time. You go to bed when you want and sleep as long as you want. Worries do not exist, what anyone else thinks of your routine is totally irrelevent. Trust me I have tried it all out and I can recommend it enormously. Since widowhood was forced upon me I have fine tuned it to the nth degree. It is now really all ME time. It was long in coming but well worth the wait. Enjoy. :j

I am still aware of time, MW, with lots of activities. However, I seem to have developed poor eye-sight for dust, bits on carpets and even beds needing changing! :rotfl:

The washing basket is emptied regularly; in fact my next door neighbour has remarked that I do a lot of washing. He even said ' I expect the line will be full', when we eventually made it home from Florida. Needless to say, I only wash when I need to.
