We have seen a bungalow in the same road (in fact about three doors away) from the 'conservatory' house we liked which was taken off the market. :) We have viewed it today. It needs quite a bit doing to it, but we don't mind a do-er upper . It has plenty of outside space which we wanted and fits our brief other than the third bedroom. Best of all it is £25k under budget and as it belonged to an old lady who died, there is no chain and no need for the inheritor to get the top price....

Seriously thinking of offering on it. We are having a second viewing on Tuesday.

(Can't post a link because it is not on Rightmove yet as it has only been for sale for a week).

We have had our second offer of £138k accepted on the bungalow!!!:eek:

As you can see, the kitchen needs attention, so does the garage, and it may need rewiring, but otherwise it is perfect for our needs.

There is a bus route goes right down the road, shops at either end, two pubs and a couple of takeaways within walking distance and although it is on an estate, it is right on the edge so doesn't feel like it.

We have a mortgage broker hopefully arranging a mortgage on our existing house so that we can buy the bungalow and do the work on it before we move in, then when the work is done we can sell our house and repay the mortgage. If he can't do it, we'll just have to sell up, buy the bungalow for cash and do the work while we are living in it.

I'm excited and nervous, we have had our house for nearly forty years and it will be a wrench to see it go. We are taking our wildlife pond with us :)

Ah, it looks great, SDW. Hope all goes well. Are you intending to do most if the modernisation yourselves?

Most of the cosmetic stuff yes. We will have a builder to remove the chimney breast from the kitchen diner so that we can get a straight run of units and will have an electrician to do any wiring that is necessary. But my husband will do the rest of the heavy work and I will help with things like decoration.

Hope our guy can get us this mortgage on our house so that we can move at leisure!

  • Our house is now (finally) up for sale although we may be able to have a mortgage on the bungalow and pay the rest from savings. If we can do this, this is the preferred option as it will give us time to do the work before we move in. Then when we have sold our house, we can pay the mortgage off.

So, either way we are on the move. Getting excited now!

We have exchanged on this bungalow today and are completing next week, 20th March :T:T:beer:

We got our mortgage so we can move at leisure and we have taken our house off the market for the moment.

Oh, this thread had gone to sleep?

    Anyone planned any exciting holidays?

We are going to China again this year, but to places we didn't visit in 2000. Shanghai, the Yangze and Chengdu for the pandas.

There is a Beijing add- on, which we'd love to do to see the changes. The extra £500 each would eat into our America funds, though.
