The Kenwood BM450 will be on offer in Costco from next week - down to £73.59! The best price elsewhere was £116.
Has anyone tried it? Think we might go for it at that price.0 -
Hi all! :hello:
I've just found this thread and I have a few questions to ask, please.
Firstly, my mum gave me a Hinari breadmaker. I've only used it once and the paddle thing at the bottom ended up stuck in the loaf. I've since been told that adding a bit more water should solve the problem, so I'll give it a go, but other than that the loaf I made with it was very nice. The only problem is, it was tiny! And I really do mean very small indeed...
I see that many, many people recommend the Panasonic breadmakers but I was just wondering howw big the loaves that it produces are. I'm not very good at imagining weights and sizes, but in terms of shop-bought loaves I would say that the breadmakes I have makes loaves of a bit smaller than a Warburton's small Toastie, when we are used to buying loaves the size of a big Toastie. Is there any bread machine out there which can make loaves that size? Which would you recommend? And out of all the different type of Panasonics would you also recommend?
We make the medium loaf in our Panasonic (400g flour). I always do this size as it makes a good sized piece of bread when sliced (the large one makes a very tall slice). We use the whole loaf to make 4 rounds of sandwiches, at a push we can squeeze 5 out. It's nice to use the whole loaf and then make a fresh one each day too.
I <think> there are only two current Panasonic models SD254 and 255 but the older models are still around on ebay etc. The 252/254 don't automatically add extra ingredients, raisins etc however they do have a 'raisin beep' so you can still make the same breads as the 253/255 by adding the ingredients manually.
re the paddles getting stuck, apparently the Kenwood I've asked about has a different type of kneading mechanism which doesn't leave a hole. We've only occasionally had a stuck paddle with the Panasonic but it does sometimes leave quite a big hole in the loaf.0 -

Thanks - that's loads of advice! :T I will have a good think about getting a Panasonic as they seem to be the ones that everyone recommends. I can almost smell the bread now! Please call me 'Pickle'

Anybody using the kenwood bm450 ?
My old SWAN BM has given up the ghost - just missed the last £19.99 Kenwood BM250 in Currys sale and now refuse to pay more for the same model - LOL
Question for Lemoncurd, or anyone else in the know, was that price of £73.59, at COSTCO, including VAT?
Might just have to find someone we know with a COSTCO card so we go to Thurrock shopping........0 -

I've found two reviews comparing it to the Panasonic - one on Amazon and one on Lakeland. They do both claim to prefer the Kenwood 450. I wonder when it came out?0 -
