    Hi

I have a Panasonic SD253 and I've had it for 2 - 3 years. If it broke I would buy another one.

I bought one because my dad had one and recommended it and he's normally anti gadget.

My mum now has one as does my mother in law.

The Panasonic is an excellent breadmaker that is reliable and makes a loaf of bread you are happy to eat.

They are abit more expensive than some of the others you can buy but it works.

All of the comparison tests I've seen on breadmakers recommend the Panasonic including Which and Good Housekeeping.

If you search on this website you'll find other threads about the Panasonic.

    Hiya

I bought the SD254 last month and have not bought any bread since! Not one single duff loaf, the bread comes out of the tin first time, the paddle never stays in the loaf...I could keep raving about it :)
I have had 3 or 4 cheap breadmakers in the past and always ended up disappointed but was persuaded to buy the Panasonic by the threads on here - its fantastic!

I've been seriously considering a breadmaker for a while now but everyone I know who's had one says not to bother (talking 'real' people not internet people IYKWIM) which obviously puts me off given the cost. I have made a grand total of two loaves by hand and they were ok, not fab, no better tasting than the normal loaves I buy to be honest!

Anyway in a quest to make a decision I've read the whole of this thread and the 9 pages of reviews on the panasonic one on amazon and am getting mixed messages. Most people seem to think its fantastic but I have seem lots of comments about loose paddles which concerns me, really really can't justify spending this kind of money on a kitchen gadget that is going to break just as I get used to it! Also people are saying about holes in the loaf from the paddle and the bread not keeping well, is there anyway round that or does it just go hand in hand which homemade bread? I guess I just want to be sure that I'm going to be able to stop buying shop bread if I commit myself to a breadmaker lol! :)

the loaves I've done have a teeny wee hole in the bottom , one slice out of the loaf. The very fussy virgo OH is delighted with the BM and says the bread is much more filling ...and I love how you can add all seeds & nuts. The fruit tea loaf was fabulous. It makes sense for us because we live quite far from a shop..but if I had a wee bakers nearby then I wouldnt have got one.
