I want to quickly specify a quick point...
IF YOU HAVE A MORGAGE ON YOUR HOUSE..YOU DO NOT OWN YOUR HOUSE...THE BANK DOES...
some people providing info that your house provides stability (and it does ina way), but if push comes to shove and the debt is charged against your house you will be made bankrupt and lose it anyway..
(I personally rent as I want to remain flexible and it costs less - a lot more houses out there and they are dying to fill them due to rising morgage costs...PS house rices are expected to decrease over the next 2 years)
PS...You really got to get your OH out there earning...!!!0 -
Hi there In2deep
Just wanted to add my support to all the other messages. It definitely isnt insurmountable and whatever happens try and hang on to your house. This is an investment for your kids although at the moment it may not seem like it.
I am also an advocate of getting your OH to contribute to the household income and before I am shot down in flames ( I know you have a babby under a year and another littlun ) but many years ago when I was unable to work full time like I do now ( I also run my own business on top of a full time job) my ex other half would come in from his job and I would go out cleaning offices.
I had 6 cleaning jobs one after the after starting from 5 till 10 or 11 at night. After each littlun I was back with Henry the Hoover in hand 6 weeks after giving birth. I hated it but it was easy, and fitted in around the kids. Sometimes I had to take the babies in with me if OH was late home but.....it made sure the mortgage was paid and food was on the table. :T
Sorry if that sounds like a lecture, it isn't meant to, but, there is no easy way out of this except hard bloody graft and I know how hard looking after a family is, I had 3 of em, but....you should you really be shouldering all of the financial responsibility ?
Makes me sound like a wizened old pensioner, I'm not, I'm 42, but I've had a taste of what your going through and my thoughts are with you all the way.

Hi there
ref DMP's
Yes you can do a joint DMP so that all of your debt is included. This means that all of your creditors are treated the same. It is NOT a good idea to try and pay one a bit more than their pro rata share. First of all because they will just want more, and secondly the other lenders may well start charging you again if you do this.
You need to have some spare income to be able to do a DMP however. So my earlier post still applies ref the various sites. And I second the person above who suggested that your OH works evenings/ weekends to avoid the child care issues. Ok you have no social life and you hardly see each other NOW, BUT, far better to do this now when children are small than later, when they notice what is going on.
The other thing to remember is that are financial situations are not static. You may find a great deal that decreases your insurances by half, or get a payrise, a promotion, your OH finding work and getting pay rises, and sadly inheritances. All of which mean that whatever your original DMP length is, it will almost certainly be shorter than that.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Thanks guys certainly not a lecture kimlisa66 its the truth.
All i need now is my body armour to speak to the OH about a job.!!'Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship'. -Benjamin Franklin.0 -
Good luck, I hope that goes ok. I think your OH should be prepared to do any kind of job until he finds a permanent teaching role if you really want to get out of this mess. Like someone else suggested perhaps he is depressed, maybe getting everything out in the open might bring this up, I'm sure he can't just be being selfish (or maybe I'm far too optimistic for my own good!!)
Am sure with a lot of hard work you will get through it together and you will keep your house, best of luck xMoney doesn't make you happy so I'm skint but cheerful :beer:0 -

Hi In2deep
Im glad you didn't think I was a bit harsh on you, sometimes the truth hurts though and i've had it dished out to me but do you know what ? It works !
And I do know exactly what you are going through though and I am sure you will find a way to overcome these difficulties. It's only money at the end of the day.
Anytime you want to chat, gimme a shout
Best regards

in2deep, have you tried doing the online debt remedy on the CCCS website to see what that suggests, it's really good and you obviously don't have to take up their advice xMoney doesn't make you happy so I'm skint but cheerful :beer:0
