Just caught this & wanted to send a hug! As others have said I would get o to cccs and go from there - that way you are controlling the debt rather than it controlling you. Also have you considered a spending diary? Great too for seeing where all those extra bits of money go to!

Hi In2deep, well done for coming on here it's the first and most difficult step...but it's the best place to come to!

I can't really offer any advice in terms of your credit cards and mortgage but with your living costs there are £££s to be saved. I appreciate it must be hard at the moment to focus on small aspects and you are seeing the whole picture of your debt, but by fine tuning things you could really reduce your outgoings.

There are looooads of things on this site you can do and more, switch to your cheapest energy supplier, find your cheapest petrol station, reduce the amount of water you use, cook economically, and take part in the supermarket challenges (it's actually quite fun when you get going). And what about using cotton nappies for your baby, which can be reused?

I also noticed you have Sky on your list of bills, what about getting a set top box and then getting some free extra channels instead?

Even if your OH does take a part time job in a supermarket, it will be money towards your bills and food. You may even get a discount on your shopping after she has been there a certain time. These days supermarkets are open all hours so there will likely be hours to fit around the kids.

I hope that's some help to you...

Keep at it, I'm sure it can all be sorted out with some perseverance.

I've just seen this too. We are in a similar boat although DH and I both have good earnings. We have gone for the DMP with CCCS - just sent off the application today.

Best of luck and hey we're all here to support each other - have a look at the DMP support thread its really useful.;)

    Hi all.

Im thinking of telling my boss about my predicament, not in the hope he will pay it all off (he could easily afford to.!) but because i want to ask about increasing my hours by one hour a day, at an OT rate of £16 it will net quite a bit extra.
However there is a catch (as always) i work for a small company with only 5 employees so i may have a problem working on my own for the extra hour due to the dreaded health and safety issues, (its an industrial environment)

    Fingers crossed.

If you don't ask, you don't get........the worst that can happen is that they say no.

    Good luck!

in answer to your earlier question re supermarkets:

asda pay £6.03 per hour and after 12 weeks you get a 10% discount card. plus theyre really flexible about what hours you work (every store i go to seems to be understaffed at the min)

yes the work can be a bit soul destroying at times but you do find that the supervisors and managers are generally really great people and understand situations such as working around childcare/college whatever...

id imagine tesco and others would be similar but have no experience to quote from

dont make any rash moves, im sure there is a way out of this and the people on these boards are fantastic, theres so many ways to cut back and make money, everyone has down days but you WILL have great days too :)

    my 2 cents ^^

  • Can you do an update generally about whats what...may help sift. I know its hard when you feel cack but if you face things it is easier than pretending its not happening...promise! Also would it be worth going to see your gp as sounds as if you may be depressed. What happened with the work situation and have you considered a DMP etc...you dont say why the debt has increased? Have you been spending or is it the interest?
Hugs for you...it is ough but once you sort it is easier...
