Here are some websites, on which you can earn a bit of money or points to put towards vouchers. Sorry if it is a bit long! If your OH is not working then they can be doing all of these to earn a bit too. Plus some sites you can both have an account so double the points. If you look on the referrers board you can join via someone elses link and they get a bit of dosh too!

    Good luck
    chev

www.lightspeedpanel.com - this is a survey site, where you get points that turn into vouchers (you choose). May not help with the cash flow, but the vouchers could be saved towards birthday/xmas or given as presents.

www.ciao.co.uk - survey site that gives money. A bit fits and starts i.e. no surveys for a couple of weeks, then three or four the same day.

www.yougov.com - again paid surveys. However takes a while to get to the minimum payout level

www.mytns.com - again this is a survey site, but it pays you in points that convert into Nectar points at Sainsbury’s.

www.pigsback.co.uk - this is a points site, i.e. they give you points for buying things via their site. BUT you also get points for signing up for news letters (some of which are even interesting!), and also for clicking on adverts with pink borders. I have spent NOTHING with them but got £40 vouchers through (been registered since January). There is also a thread in the freebies section, of https://www.moneysavingexpert.com that gives you all the daily answers to the competitions so you can have a better chance of winning on them. I won £20 of points recently on the daily quizzes so a nice boost to the Christmas fund.

www.mutualpoints.com - another points for clicks site. You can also buy things via their site and get points too. For a long time, I just clicked the links in the emails they send you, and that gets you 5 points. At 3000 points you get £20 I think. You can do searches via their site and that gets you points too.

www.quidco.com - this is a cash back site, so very good, for checking if any potential new insurers (i.e. if you have checked your contents insurance say and found a new provider), are offering cash back. E.g. Lloyds was offering £120 cash back on new policies at one point (the offers do change). You can also get small amounts of cash again for doing searches via their site. You can earn 52p a day by doing this. Every little helps.

www.greasypalm.co.uk - another cash back site, where you can do searches and get small amounts of money. But it all adds up. I think you can get about 50p a day on there for nothing. Minimum payout is £20 I think, but you can sign up to survey sites via there, and get extra money that way for nothing.

www.topcashback.co.uk - another site where you can do daily clicks to get money for nowt.

www.britishrewards.co.uk - same as topcashback, daily clicks to do searches for pennies a time.

Again more medium term money might come from claiming back bank charges. Also if you had an endowment you can write to your provider suggesting you might have been misinformed about its performance. Many people have got money back on that. There are articles from Martin on the main site about how to go about doing this.
If you are going to do this, it is wise to set up another current account first, with a bank that you have no debt with. Just to be on the safe side.

Are you in the correct banding for your council tax? Again there is an article by Martin on the main website about how to go about checking this. If you are in the wrong band and due a rebate, it is for all the year you have been living in the house since 1991, so this can be several thousand pounds back.

    Hi,

I just wanted to pop by and say hello - and ask how's things going?

You mentioned in an earlier post about selling and renting back your house - although this is an option I would seriously look into it before doing anything, these companies often give you significantly less than what your house is worth and there is no guarantee that they'll let you rent forever.

I have a large amount of debt as you can see in my signature and I also have 'some' equity in my property. One of the things I considered was to release the equity to help me - but I knew this was a short term solution and borrowing more to consolidate just didn't help me at all - you end up paying so much more than you need to though interest charges in the long run.

You mentioned that you'd already had an offer of £180K -this seems like a good offer in todays market but I'm no housing expert.

As I was beginning to struggle each month I contacted www.cccs.co.uk who are a free debt service who you can just chat through what your options could be. As a result I undertook a Debt Management Plan with them - my mortgage is paid every month and I now pay reduced payments to my creditors through cccs - and I have to say although it's hard at times I have money left over each month once the bills have gone out.

Going on a DMP can affect your credit rating, however if you don't really want to move just yet I'd seriously consider it. It doesn't stop you getting a mortgage - it may make it slightly more difficult in the future but you will also be making great headway for reducing your debt.

Just wanted to wish you look and feel free to ask any questions we're here to help and support.

What i was thinking is if i sell after paying off the debts i should have around £30k, but although this sounds a lot with an income of only around £25k how much would i be able to get a mortgage for..??? Is it even worth it as i would be buying a house with a bigger mortgage and less equity than i already have.
Renting could cost almost as much as a good mortgage.

Also i would need to get a mortgage on the promise of paying off what i owe.....i have very serious doubts that anyone would lend on this(quite right i suppose).

Oh one last thing if i got down the DMP route does the OH automaticaly have to do it also as they have 18k of our total debt...is a DMP joint thing.??

I have a lot to consider.....DMP and 20 years of paying it off or sell and have no home.

I just deleted my response to '2million in bank'
I reckon it was 2 million Zimbabwe dollars which would be around 5p right?

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

Hello in2deep, sorry about your troll problem!

I am not very knowledgeable about all the various debt issues, however, I wanted to add a renters perspective!
I pay rent, and contents insurance, plus household bills (plus my debts!). If my roof blows off, I ring my landlord, if my boiler breaks (which happened this week!), I ring Homecare, paid for by landlord, and if the !!!! really hits the fan, or an opportunity comes up in another part of the country, I can pack up and leave without the repsonsibility of having to sell the place. Right now, renting is cheaper than paying a mortgage, and houses will be relatively more affordable to buy in a couple of years, so why struggle?
For me, owning a house would be nice, but is not at the top of my list of priorities. For many people it is. All I'm suggesting is that you examine your feelings about home-owning and being on the property ladder to make sure that the decisions you make really reflect your and your families priorities.

    Best of luck

    Mrs. Irwin
