Hi all and well done for still being here! You're all very inspirational:T
I've just done all my number crunching and I'm £311.37 over budget for the first quarter:eek: despite cutting down drastically on grocery.
I've just changed insurer and reduced buildings and contents by more than half, starting from this month:jcan't believe I used to pay so much more for the same cover. I wouldn't have thought of looking into that before joining this challenge.

Anyone been caught out for April Fool's Day yet?
The flying penguins on the BBC did cause some debate in this house :rotfl:
Hoping for another NSD today as I'm mumsitting and can't go out. Uni starts again on Monday, and I'm dreading it. I'm worried that all the stress and temptation will ruin all my good intentions. I'm looking forward to getting my sl in though, as then I'll be able to make some payments on my CCs.0 -

Hello everyone, after mulling it over, doing sums and getting a headache, I'd like to throw my hat into the ring and say 'sign me up, buttercup' (or NYK)
WELCOME to Frugalsville, Kittikins! I have now updated post one of this thread so that it includes the original challenger list and have allocated you a challenger number (except I have now forgotten what that number was, so you'll need to check post one :rotfl: ).
Interest Beaters Mini-Challenge
Whatever your annual amount was for this challenge, then that's the amount you calculate for interest. The Chancellor of the ex-chequebook has been very generous with his calculations and has allowed a full 6.5%, as per the following examples:
£3000 x 6.5% = £195
£4000 x 6.5% = £260
£5000 x 6.5% = £325
Just work out 6.5% of you full year's budget and that's the minimum amount of interest that your personal 'Frugalville Financial Institute' would like you to earn between now and December 31st.
How frugal can that be? It will be nice to have the interest in the bank at the end of the year without having had the money in there to earn it in the first place! I think.:rotfl:
I'm still working out how to generate the 'interest beater' cash, but will let you know as soon as I have decided. Has anyone else had time to think about it yet?I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Well the way I see it is that the change in budget doesn't start till this month anyhow, so only 9mth of the 4k budget to gather interest on, which means £3k so £195 to get into bank. I will do what I did last year, and the amount my money has gone up by I will have set as a SO to go into a savings account (last years went into my daughter's 10% interest, savings account)19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0
