Good afternoon all, hope those with headaches and throat-aches are feeling better soon and everyone is enjoying April Fool's day. Haven't been caught out yet (that I know of!!) and have managed to make it into town and back for some groceries.
My window sill herb garden is growing nicely and I managed to get a little pot of Coriander reduced to 50p from Mr S. Total spent from grocery budget on the herb garden stands at £1.35 now. The tomato seedlings are sprouting quickly, the pepper seeds have finally decided to grow (don't give up on them, anyone) and the garlic chives haven't put in an appearance yet. It is now glorious sunshine outside! I am almost tempted to go and plant some potatoes and onions but the chicken is in the oven cooking and I just KNOW I wouold forget the time and burn it. I wonder...
I still haven't sorted out the clothes bundles for the charity shop / recycling / online auctions and I still haven't taken the time to sit and make some items for the 'start a cottage industry' thread! We did pick up copies of the free property paper to drool over (then get used for the bottoms of the Guinea Pig & bird cages).
Biggest surprise of the day - I mentioned last night that I was switching off a couple of the heaters to celebrate the start of the second quarter of 2008. My night time power useage has been running at an average of 45 units since New Year; when I read the meter this morning, it plummeted to 21!
Roll on the better weather! I'm due to send in the meter readings for the electricity bill before the 11th, so here's hoping it isn't too far over the £500 mark.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Like the interest beater challenge:D
I have just signed up for the make £10 a day challenge, Will I have to do both separately or can i count the money made on the £10 a day challenge towards my "interest"?
Spends today £10 into sealed pot for electric savings:D , 50p on big smarties easter egg for DD,30p on pack reduced potato cakes, and 98p on pack of spotlight bulbs for bathroom.Had to go asda for work - post office is in there- so saved on petrol costs.
Only completed just over a month on challenge so far but come in under budget:D£279.45 so far.
Need to go and update total now with todays spends:rolleyes:0 -
I was updating my spreadsheet with spends and was wondering how everyone else keeps track of their spending? I have to admit to being a bit of an excel addict and I love colour-coding all of my spends and have umpteen different keys dotted about.
I have each month in a new tab in the same book. Within the tab, fitted so you can see all of it across the screen, but have to scroll down towards the end of the month as the outgoings list gets long, are 4 different tables. The first (and longest) is the spent list with the date, items and amount in different columns. Then I have two small columns in the middle with incomings and outgoings not included in the budget. Then my final column is for freebies/competitions.
I have been getting over excited and set up a new category for this month - one for my cat. Her cat food had been counted under ours and her insurance/vet under direct debits. I am curious to see how much she actually costs to keep. I also nearly started a new category for stationary but at the last minute put it under household.
There's my geekiness, so confess to how you keep track of yours! Any tables I'm missing and could include?~ Lexie ~The Minimoilist.Saving money and the planet at the same time.0 -

and it was Light when I started reading, and now its Dark (still haven't switched the light on though - just folded the laptop in a bit so the screen lights up the keys :A )
Well, HAPPY NEW THREAD to you all. And here's hoping I do a bit better from now on (I'll have to other wise I'll cease to exist by about September. I seem to have got my monthly target and weekly target mixed up)
Cheers:beer:0
