The little one will probably go to sleep anyway because of the white (monotonous noise). We did a 28 hour flight with a three year old. The main prob with him was he kept pressing the call button when we were asleep and getting soft drinks for himself.
:rotfl: :rotfl: YOU WERE BRAVE!!!!!
My DS has been on a plane before but he was too young to know so yup it's new to them both. Ive told them your not allowed ya seat belts off unless u need the toilet, cause my DD will be up and down otherwise, she hates to sit still.Sealed Pot dec 08 - dec 09 so far £27.67, Live off £4k Spent £330.20 GC £1,200 for 2009 Spent £50.78 PaD so far £650.07Debts: L/woods £154.00 C/One PAID O/D £649.90 Next £299.95 O/D PAID Gas £72.60 Electric £155.73 Mum £640.00 Orange £490.320 -

helloooooo new thread!
well done chaps!
well I survived the outdoors adventure trip - had a great time and there was deep white fluffy cartoon snow up to your knees in bits!
I ate lots of it and gave myself a sore throathow's that for a frugal snack?!
:j:j:ji have crunched me old numbers, and I'm in at £87.28 under budget for the 1st quarter! which isn't a super huge amount but that would be £349.12 under over the year if i managed to keep up the good work... and £349.12 is a lot when the target is £2008 - it would mean i would be all in at £1658.88
sssssshhhh don't tell anyone but i have made myself a new secret target (which I am very likely to fail!) of bringing in the year at £1500 - which would be £119.92 a month from now on (i think) ...can it be done???

CharliesAngel - Re: your debts increasing, perhaps the interest rates and any resulting fees are bumping up the balances quicker than your payments are reducing them? 34.9% looks astronomical - have you read all the posts on the other forums about requesting reduced rates, balance transfers or even a bank loan? Surely someone, somewhere must be able to help suggest a way to consolidate and/or reduce the interest.
Lynda - Well done coming in under budget! I make it £136.34 under budget for the full quarter
Aril - I'm reminded of ponies again. :rotfl: Do you mean 'don't look a gift horse in the mouth' type thing?
Bails - That is brilliant news about your savings! Bank any underspends as part of your challenge money as we still have another 9 months to go, you can use high interest accounts if you like
I am considering a mini-challenge to help start me off with my longterm goal of achieving financial self-sufficiency but I haven't completed my research yet. I'll get back to you as soon as I have finished crunching these numbers.
Mumzy - Your mini challenge can be to stay off the cigs whilst on holiday, how's that?Re the travel insurance, I don't count vouchers until I have the vouchers in my hand. It's best to count whatever it actually cost you from your budget and then count it as a bonus when vouchers arrive and save you on shopping bills
Frugalicious herby bits - I've just chopped up the first of my mint and chives. Co-op had soft cheese on special offer (got 2 tubs a couple of days ago) and I'm going to mix some of that with freshly chopped chives and have it with oatcakes tomorrow at lunchtime. The herbs are growing nicely on the window sill and cost a grand total of 85p for the 2 lots of plants from Mr A's last week.
All of the hm twinks hobnobs have been demolished already and I am going to have to spend a day baking pretty soon, but have decided that, since tomorrow is the first day of the second quarter, I'm going bargain hunting whilst delivering a couple of bags of items to the charity shop.
I'm just putting the final touches to my idea for a mini-challenge and will be back soon. Feel free to suggest your own, but it needs to either be completely free or come out of the £4k budget.
Jumble_bee, glad you had a good time and congratulations on the under budget. I wish you every success with your 2008 for 2008 reducing to 1500, just be careful not to set yourself too many extreme goals. (Unless, of course, you like extreme)
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

shhhhh don't shout about it, its a secret.... which i will conviniently 'forget' if it proves difficult!
i do everything except mortgage/council tax/insurances (life/buildings/contents/boiler - cos i don't pay for those) and i share a flat so i only have half the cost of broadband & tv license, plus i volunteer full time and get a free bus pass for that
....will be tough when i go back to uni at the end of the year and i don't get the bus pass anymore. Will try and creatively rustle up the cash for it at some point! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
