Okay, so I took myself off to the charity shops armed with £10 in change (I knew I needed some other things), determined to treat myself to something. I tried on a pair of trousers but didn't like them enough to part with the £3. That was as close as I came
I did however buy a hessian type bag stuffed full of massaging implements and loofah gloves etc so I can give OH a well-deserved (yet still cheap
) pampering tomorrow. I'm normally far too tired to return the massages he gives me so I hope he'll really appreciate it.
I also got a whole load of old hardback books for free :T My plan is to turn them into diaires etc as presents and I get them for free as they aren't good enough to sell and the charity would have to pay to get them recycled! I need to squirrel them away in the attic before OH sees them and despairs of meI want to have a go at one NOW but really ought to have a rest. I also paid 50p for one called The Year of the Rat - too good to resist! - and another 50p on a mini pack of cards for OH for travelling, as he's always wishing we had some!
The day is not over yet though and I will try again to splash some cash on myself - I can feel a bar of chocolate coming onThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Congratulations everyone on 100 days!
This has been an expensive month for me so far (£180 ish already), but Quidco have added £110 for my Legal and General ISA (I set it up in December, was beginning to think I wouldn't get it), so that's a good bonus for day 100! Also I've now had confirmed a day's work in London next week, which I can take as holiday from my main job, so I'll get paid twice that day!Live on £11k in 20110 -
Happy 100 to all Frugalite
Thank you Nyk for the thread and the encouragement and support. The humour and good feeling on this thread is incredible and very very helpful
Today would seem to have been a good day for me, I was given a vacuum cleaner in good order [Karcher TBS 32e] from Freecyle; I bought some semi-seasoned logs [2 x 1m cube] for £100 [hope this is a good price, not sure though] and spent the day clearing out our house and have about another week to go and then I'm moved into our soon to be converted barn...:j  :j
but
am in a foul temper:eek: I've been giong through the accounts again and discovered that OH is not quite up to speed with the principles of MSE. I've got the entire lounge knee deep in bags of "stuff" and only me to sort it despite DD and DH being around, and no cupboards to put anything away into. The agreement was that it would be sorted out BEFORE it came in here - hey ho.
Right - think nice thoughts :A - there, that made me smileSo, I shall set back to work and see if there's carpet under the heap. It's my own fault, I should never have acquired so much junk in the first place:rolleyes: You never know, there may be an eBay sale coming up! More likely to be Freecycle and dump though!
Glad everyone is celebrating. I went out and spent £8.45 on 5 packets of seeds today - lettuce, turnip, nasturtiums, salad leaves and night scented stocks. They'll be sown tomorrow and be planted up together so that it will smell lovely as I eat my dinner out in the sunshineI'm presuming we will have a summer this year!
Thanks again Nyk and everyone for a wonderful 100 days - I've never had so many e-friends before! If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0 -
happy 100 days!
phew, i was feeling guilty for buying a pot noodle for tea (i know, i know they are gross but i got home late and for some reason i fancied one!)
i was out starting a weekly volunteering thingy - obviously volunteering full time is just not enough! i feel like such a do-gooder.... (even through im soooo only in it for the cv brownie points)
i will be getting 3 free breakfasts and lunchs a week soon, for 10 weekscos im gonna be a course assistant
guess who is in charge of the food budget too?
its £500!! thats more than my annual food budgetThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
_party_ Happy 100 days everyone!
Hope you're all doing something nice to celebrate
I'm a home alone parent this evening, so I'm just about to settle down with a mini toblerone and a bag of crisps to watch Amelie, which came today from Love Film. I've even got some change from my 100 pennies, really couldn't think of anything else to buy for tonight!0 -
Spend day today for me.:o
Just been to garden centre as wanted a big tub for strawberries. All the strawberry tubs were very small and very expensive,£12.99 for a tiny one and over £20 for anything half decent.
As I have lots of strawberry plants overwintering in greenhouse I need a BIG planter. After much consideration have bought a polyurethane domestic dustbin and OH is going to drill out lots of holes all over for my strawberries, it only cost £10.00,and will last for years.:D
Total spend for today £10 for dustbin, £10 in sealed pot in lieu of electricity, £1 for big bag apples as treat for frugal pony.0 -
