Yippee, I managed to book a £29 room for my wedding anniversary in July. Many thanks to the person who re-posted the non-flash link at about 5 past 12, I had been searching for the original link but couldn't find it. Really chuffed as I was in work and the server is so slow I didn't expect to get anything. x0

surely someone could log in under your name and pay cash for the room? Or if its paid for then they could lodge their partners card so it wont matter if its ina different name?
Would that not work?0 -

If you phone them you can usually change the name of the booking - I did this today no problem as I was booking for someone else. I nearly  when I saw the confirmation email too, esp as I had checked this was ok with them via phone earlier in the week, but when I phoned them today they had no problem changing the name. Another option is that whenever whoever is going checks in, tell the reception that any expenses will be settled by cash - usually they take credit card details for this on booking in, but I think I remember that you don't have to do this.

For those asking about show prices etc, Martin did a thread some time ago about daysoutguide (google for address, can't remember it fully) whereby if you are going by train you get bogof on a lot of things - dungeons, shows, restaurants to name but a few.
Most places (espesh shows) don't check that you have come by train either, but if they did then as long as you buy the cheapest single ticket somewhere in London you can find then that qualifies too.

First time I've tried anything like this and managed to get a £1 room for Sunday 8th June. Then did another booking to get a £29 room for Monday 9th June and we'll see a show or two.I have no idea where the hotel is or what it's like!
The hotel's near Old Street tube, so it's a short walk/bus ride from things like the

Spitalfields Market: http://www.visitspitalfields.com/
Dennis Sever's House: http://www.dennissevershouse.co.uk/
Columbia Road market: http://www.londontown.com/LondonInformation/Attraction/Columbia_Road_Market/3349/
There are a couple of nice places to eat nearby, including Shish (Old St) which does yummy kebabs and middle eastern foods, and the Vietnamese restaurants on Kingsland Road (try Hanoi Cafe, Viet Grill or Song Que) which are very cheap and yummy. The area's quite urban and hardly as chi-chi as Knightsbridge, but it's more like 'real' London, and there's plenty to do around the area, and it's very well connected for getting to the city and west end. Try looking on www.timeout.com/london for ideas of what to do during your stay!2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -

I tried to book for 1st july, put in my bank details and clicked submit, the screen just went blank, so I tried again for 2nd of july again the screen just went blank for a very long time time, so I just gave up. i have just checked my emails and I have 2 different confirmations e mails for both dates, I would really love to go and take advatage of this but will it be allowed,my husband and I rarely get treats like this and would hate to turn up and for them to say, I'm sorry you can't stay here cos you booked 2 nights, it really was a genuine mistake. what should I do.
I would ring them and explain. They must know that the site had problems and the worst that could happen IMHO is that they cancel one of the dates. You never know they may let you keep both for your honesty. Unfortunately when my booking didnt register straight away I thought it was the same as last time and it would still go through. But it didnt. Ah Well!0
