I have some news today, well i had a long talk with my mum last night, she was sooo not happy so she rang the letting agency today, they seemed to try to fob her of with all sorts of excuses they said they dont deal with the certificates the maintence side does so my mum went mad and said i want to talk to the manager she asked why no certificates have been given to us and if the check had been given why was no notice given to us to enter the property to check the boilers.
She went on that the manitence lady works from home and now shes on hoilday. !!!!!! they never told me this yesterday so my mum said she wanted the landlords number and she would nt give to her, so the manager said she would give her a call back and she would talk to the landlord herself.
I could nt believe it when she said to my mum that the boilers are new, UMM
DONT THINK SO, ive been here four years now and mum said you have to check them yearly, so just waiting for my mum to ring back....
Also just another question are they meant to leave a sticker on the boiler to say the check has been done and what date it was done??feb wins, head badminton kit, 250g sea salt scrub

Totally irrelevent and incorrect there is something to see(the tenants copy of the test certificate)
well yes of course!
my last check the guy didn't leave me the certificate- it's not an handwritten one - I got the tenant copy from the sollicitor (managing the flat) who received all the copies (so efficient, love them)
If I had not been there when the guy came, there would have been nothing when I would have come back home in the evening that would indicate someone came! that's what I meant by "nothing to see".
I read the post - and was replying to the following :apart from that from what i can see nothing has been done on the clean up of this place.chickflick wrote: »Also just another question are they meant to leave a sticker on the boiler to say the check has been done and what date it was done??
never saw that, but hey, never had any problem, so didn't go checking the boiler.
well now you know these people (agency) are talking buxxxxit!!!
nice to have your mum doing some pressure :-)
so I guess now you can really "take a stand against the estate agent"

Our boiler doesn't have any stickers indicating date and time of check. That is covered by the Gas Safety Certificate that you SHOULD have been given.
The last time the gas engineer came to do an annual check, he left the white copy (Tenant's copy) with us. I think that is the way it is supposed to work.0 -

it's always what happened for me as well, but not this year
I was sent a printed certificate (versus hand-written one left on the day usually)
Don't know !
I doubt anyway anything was done in this case - wonder what they will come up with ... the 'managing' woman will have to come back from holidays, what next, maternity leave :rotfl:
your copy got lost in the post, their copy disapeared when the agency got a break-in ....... I'm sure they have on their desk a little folder of excuses (if very organised it's a database, so they can use new ones each time

That is fair enough but technically illegal the person carrying out the testing must leave a copy at the time of testing, this is to prevent something like this happeningand to stop him getting his plumber buddy to just write out a back dated one.0

Don't get angry - Get organised ! Well, at least not too angry. Your anger has obviously motivated you into action which is obviously a good thing but too much anger sometimes gets in the way.RIGHT IM AM AT BOILING POINT NOW IM SOOOO BLOODY ANGRY
Make a list of things you need to do, (You've started already), arguments you need to make and keep a record of everything. It always helps in the end.0 -
Jemma - there won't necessarily be a sticker put on a boiler as evidence of a maintenance check but if you google "gas safety certificate" under images you can see variations of the type of paperwork you should be given
The more you say about the set up there, the more it sounds like you'd be better off moving somewhere else. Several flats in the same building all with gas heating systems that may not be serviced and certificated - if that turns out to be the true situation that's a serious risk, and it's illegal. Report the LL/LA to the HSE and look for a new home.0 -
We are reporting them to the HSE now they did nt phone me or contact my mum after her phone call yesterday and still had nothing in the post about my certificates.feb wins, head badminton kit, 250g sea salt scrub
